Off to choose a new washing machine tomorrow after my second hotpoint washer in 2 years has gone t!ts up
Just wondering whether anyone has any suggestions on good makes of washing machines? Obviously I won't be having a hotpoint again (although that said the one thats just gone kaput was a washer/dryer which I also won't be having again!). I have a credit note for Comet for £190(ish) which I can add to if needed, does anyone have any suggestions please?

Miele if you can afford it. If not my second choice is Bosch.
I've had my Bosch machine for more than ten years now.

If a Miele seems too expensive, I can certainly recommend Bosch. My old washing machine has been one of the most reliable electrical products I've ever owned.
I don't suppose the new ones are quite as well made but I believe they come with a two year guarantee, so at least they should do better than your awful Hotpoints!0 -

Yes, Miele are very good, but can also be quite expensive (but is well worth paying). Other good makes are Neff, Bosch, Siemens, AEG......If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

I think it's a lottery. My last machine was a Zanussi and lasted for 12 years. I've had an Indesit for 2 years so I'm hoping that it lasts as long as my previous one. I doubt it though as newer machines don't seem to last the same as they did before." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

Miele is one of the quietest machines, important if you live in a flat etc. I wasn't happy about trading down from a normal Miele to an integrated Siemens, but the Siemens is fine. There is a 15 min wash cycle on one model, which is great.0 -
I have a 5 year old mid range Miele. I do about 10 loads a week and it is fab. I brought the cheapest one that gave me the 10 year guarantee, not sure if that offer is still around. They take it off for a month or so and then put the offer back on. 10 year guarantee is for parts and labour and you are atttended by a Miele engineer. For a mid range you are probably looking at about £750 ish but with that 10 year guarantee and the fact that Miele make machines that should last 20 years I dont think you will regret it. Also with that credit note from Comet it will make it less painful.
You could call Miele in Abingdon and ask them what is the cheapest machine with the 10 year guarantee.0 -
Bosch.
Miele only if you've won the lottery
Had a Hotpoint one previously and that was rubbish.0 -
Maytag, if you cant find one of those, Bosch or Miele.0
