Well I rang again and the lady i spoke to this time said to apply and see how far i get . She couldn't guarantee that i will get it but she said I can always appeal . Now I just have to track down my midwife for the oh so elusive form ehBaby Thomas born 3 months early by emergency section on 21/1/09 weighing 1lb 15ozs .
Thomas came home after 3 months and 2 days in hospital weighing 5lb 15ozs
Thomas weighed 21lb 4ozs on his 1st birthday , a total weight gain of 18lbs 5ozs !

Thanks for the update and if you are unsucessful please do appeal. You will prob be the first one to do so and I'm sure it will highlight a gap in legalisation,0 -
Yay! At last, something I am able to claim! - for once I'm not excluded for getting off my bum, working full time and completely paying my own way in life. However long i have to wait for this doesn't really matter, i'm finally going to benefit, despite being a full tax payer :-)0

Natalie I think the problem lies in the fact that you have already had your baby and the grant is for keeping you healthy during your pregnancy, whilst I appreciate that you have been through a lot (I know from your posts in the Preg Club what's been happening) it is a grant for pregnant women.
Although the grant is techinically equal to child benefit and as you can claim that from when your baby is born you will be getting that from an earlier date than you would have if all had gone to plan (I'll just swiftly ignore that the CHB will end sooner than originally planned to tho:o)0 -
Thank-you MSE for letting me know about this, coz I sure haven't heard about it on the news and by the sounds of it I wouldn't have heard about it from my midwife.0

Thanks for that info. I am a little confused though (doesn't take much nowerdays).
Our baby is due in mid July and my wife is currently 18 weeks pregnant does that meen we don't qualify as she is not 25 weeks pregnant now?
Thanks
If you register on their website, they will send you a text reminder when she hits 25 weeks0 -
ive spent my form off 2 weeks ago and my daughter who is also pregnant got a leaflet from the hospital last week about it , says they will contact u within 3 weeks and payment will be in bank within 5 weeks . Think if people are having problems its because its new , i was very lucky my midwife gave me the forms and signed it for me straight away she also did my sure start grant form to which i got it the bank on thursday only took 8 days to sort0

This is the problem isn't it . I am honestly not bothered if I get the £190 or not , it's just if my midwife had had the forms my claim would have already been in before I had had Thomas .Baby Thomas born 3 months early by emergency section on 21/1/09 weighing 1lb 15ozs .
