Due to have a baby 6 April onwards? Don't miss out on £190

Hi,
My second child is due on the 30th March, if I go over my expected due date and don't deliver until on or after 6th April can I apply for this grant or do you have to apply in the last trimester!!
£190 would come in really handy!
I sympathise, I am due on 31st  But as my first 2 have been 8 days and 11 days late, I dont expect this one til Easter!
I know there has to be a cut off but its so cruel... I just missed the 9 months paid leave with my 1st.
At least things are getting better for mums.
You can't apply after the baby is born because the whole point is you are supposed to use it in pregnancy to afford fresh fruit etc etc0 -
Im 31 weeks pregnant - due 18th April - so entitled to this BUT my midwife still doesnt have the forms!!! I have called the helpline and they can not send out the forms to individuals. They have to be sent to health professionals and are apparently sent in packs of 10!! All they say is to give my midwife there phone number!!!
I have tried my GP - he has none - and my other half has called his GP (diff surgery) and they have none either!! Its madness! I can see me not ending up getting this money due to the lack of organisation!!!0 -

Just to let you know that if you are due after 6th April but have your baby beforehand you will NOT get the grant . My EDD was 14th April but had baby 3 weeks ago , just rang about the grant and they said I would not be eligible for it as baby had arrived before 6th April .Baby Thomas born 3 months early by emergency section on 21/1/09 weighing 1lb 15ozs .
Thomas came home after 3 months and 2 days in hospital weighing 5lb 15ozs
Thomas weighed 21lb 4ozs on his 1st birthday , a total weight gain of 18lbs 5ozs !

Hello everyone, this is my first post on the MSE website
I am a bit gutted about this grant as I am due on 28th March, so just miss out! Typical.

I thought it was all down to your EDD, not the actual date you give birth?
I'd follow that up if I were you, I'm sure you've been given the wrong information and you are entitled to it.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

Natalie. I would second the above posters advise of taking this further. I have looked at the guidance available on the internet and no where does it say about what happens if you deliver prior to 6/04/09 even if you due date is after that date. I would insist they let me claim and you may then have a right of appeal.0 -
Have found the regulations relating to health in pregnancy grant

Natalie the only thing I can see that would exclude you from claiming grant is that you have not claimed when pregnant. However considering the debacle with midwifes not having received the claim form I would strongly recommend you still try and claim if you had reached 25 wks.0 -

this is the thing , my midwife didn't have the forms when i was pregnant and obviously i wasn't expecting to have an emergency section @ 28+1 ! Think I will ring again in the morning and see what they say again . I know its only £190 but it's not my fault no-one had the blooming forms ! Will let you know what they sayBaby Thomas born 3 months early by emergency section on 21/1/09 weighing 1lb 15ozs .
