Hi there and hope your well too........:D

This rings the bell with in regards of the FOS and Lloyds TSB as well.

I have an email somewhere which may explain it, this was before my hubby was successful through the FOS and he was waiting for a decision from the ombudsman, will see if I can find it and post it here in a min.;)

lol well I try lol, cheers........:D
right just checked my hubby's email and am now wondering if this is the reason they have with yours also, read this and see what you think, although this one is in regards of Lloyds just a few weeks before he was successful which was last week.;)

    Dear Mr ,

Thank you for your e-mail and apologies for the delay in replying, due to me trying to get to the bottom of what is happening with your case.

I can, however, advise you that due to the large number of similar complaints this service has received concerning the sale of credit card payment protection policies by Lloyds TSB we have been in dialogue with Lloyds TSB at a high managerial level with a view to having the business settle these claims without the need to issue individual decisions on each and every case, a time and labour intensive exercise for the ombudsman involved given the number of cases currently with this service. I understand that as part of this process we are issuing what is known as a 'lead' decision to Lloyds TSB; this should hopefully be issued today.

In essence this is a decision issued by the lead ombudsman covering all the concerns this service has regarding the business' credit card sales and, if it is accepted by Lloyds TSB, we should then be able to provide the business with details of all the complaints we have received, including your own, for which we require settlement to be made. If, however, Lloyds TSB rejects the lead decision it may then be necessary to issue all of the individual decisions, though this is something we would wish to avoid for the reasons I have just stated. Whilst, therefore, the ombudsman has not issued a decision solely addressing your complaint, you are represented by this lead decision,

As with all decisions issued by this service, Lloyds TSB has a month to respond to the lead decision. I, therefore, anticipate being able to provide you with a further update on your case by this time next month.

Once again, I would apologise for the delay in replying to your e-mail and to the overall delays you are experiencing in the resolution of your complaint. I trust, however, that this e-mail goes someway to explaining the reasons for the delays and reassures you that your complaint, along with all such similar complaints against Lloyds TSB, is being progressed at the highest levels of this service.

    Yours sincerely,

this is exactly what i received from the FOS (received on Oct 30th) - see below

    Dear Mr

    Thank you for your email.

The Financial Ombudsman Service is currently in high level talks with Barclays Bank about their PPI complaints.

As soon as we receive further information from Barclays someone will contact you.

I trust this is to your satisfaction.

    Kind regards

Di, what kind of timescale did it take for a decision between this type of correspondance from the FOS and Lloyds agreeing/paying up on your hubby's case?

I keep emailing the FOS for updates, but all I get is "we will inform you when the case progresses" - am just a tiny bit frustrated

Is there anything you recomment I should do?

    Thanks a billion

This is what it is then, this will mean you should not be waiting too long now, because this was only a matter of weeks my hubby received this email to his final successful decision.
    Not long now then.

That's what I was told by the FOS re LTSB, they had found in my favour in May but things were on hold due to 'the talks'. Then I called again in Nov to see how things were going just to be told that in Sept, LTSB had replied to the letter even tho they were supposed to have replied, with any further facts, by the end of May. The case was waiting to go back to an adjudicator again and then, depending on the outcome, they would decide if it needed to go to the Ombudsman.
I was also told that they are dealing with the ones that have been with them for 2 years, as a priority, I only have to wait until April to qualify.
So I suppose the moral is, even tho you think you have won Lloyds waits well past the deadline (nearly 4 mths past) to throw a spanner in the works, so just take it a day at a time.
I hope they don't mess you around as well Di. x
