PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

Hi all,
I'm trying to help a friend who's in a pretty bad debt problem. For the last 4-5 years i've helped him reduce his debts and shift them to 0% cards etc etc, when we started there was over 12k! He had a very good wage from his last job which helped, but he has now been made redundant (for last year). We had almost cleared the lot (only a 2k credit card left) - now, he's got another card and has racked up another £4k!I've just moved this new debt and the old one to a new card @ 0%.
Anyway, point is... we have a claim for nearly £2k from charges on his old Barlcays account - thias is obviously stayed with the rest of them, but i'm thinking of pleading the hardship to see if we can force a payout - anyone had any luck with this route? (I know it's wrong thread, but read on)...
He also had a loan with Nationwide which i took out online. Orginally i DID NOT take out the PPI; however, behind my back he's gone and phoned them and asked for an extra £3k! To do this they obviously cancel the old loan and issue a new one. He did this twice. On these loans he had the PPI. I'm not sure how he was 'sold' this - i assume he phoned them up and done it that way? The loan repayments were £273.43 for 5 years (with the PPI) - do you think we have a chance of reclaiming? Any one had any luck with Nationwide? He would have just said anything to get the money!!!
Thanks and sorry for being a bit of a life-story and off topic in parts!!!
Appreciate all and any responses...0 -
Hi all
In brief- I originally sent my letter to Welcome finance ( using templates of MSE ) this time last year !! they refused to accept responsibility so i forwarded it the FOS who have succesfully got Welcome to admit they were in the wrong so I sent off my acceptance of offer early Sep and welcome/FOS said it may take up to 8 weeks to get an offer out to me however nothing yet I called welcome just befor 8 weeks and they said it would be a few more weeks due to back log and then i contacted Fos to hurry them up and fos then imformed me we should have it by 21st nov !! so me being impatient and very broke, I called them yeaterday to be told that it was still going to be many many weeks before a settlement comes out:eek: Why is it other companies manage to get there act together and get it finalised quickly and welcome finance just keep moving the goal post  I was hoping to have a have stress free xmas but now I am just dreading it financially
Actually not very brief, but once i get started !!!0 -

oh poor you, this really annoys me, do companys think we claim for fun. it was down to them we are in this mess with ppi, bet if you owed them you couldnt make them wait. i know phone them up and say if you do not repay this debt within 7 days i will issue a default against you lol, as they would if you missed payments. good luck with this and fingers crossed that you dont have to wait too much longer x
Thanks, very tempting to start putting serious pressure on but is this going to make them dig their heels in even more.... dont know what to do getting very very impatient, I really need that money before xmas.
Thanks again any help is much appreciated .0 -

Congratulations on your recent Barclaycard success, can I just ask how long it took them to send you the money/settlement figure? Only I've been waiting on a redress figure since End Sept & no news!!
Thank you
Thank you. I started the reclaim process on the 28th May. Required several nudging letters with threats before they finally caved.
Good luck.If you see a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck !!!!!!0 -
On another forum today I read that Firstplus had sent a reply to a customer reclaiming PPI, saying that they had gone in to administration and would not be paying out, and that they also had no recourse to the Financial Ombudsman because of this. I am awaiting their final decision on my reclaim of PPI and obviously this has worried me. Has anyone else heard, or received similar, or has any advice; I am still paying the loan insurance, but surely if they have gone in to administration, then that is also null and void so why am I paying it?0
