For those of your who have had success through the FOS, can you tell me how long you've had to wait. I'm starting to get a bit narked with them too! They've had my complaint now since June 2007, and my last letter from them (saying that the next letter I got would be from my case adjundicator) was back in February. Each time I phone them they say they have a big back-log of complaints - and that they deal with them in order, but this can't be true, as I've read people getting decisions from the FOS in 6-12 months or so. Is it my bank dragging their heels?

Hello and so sorry to hear this.

If your in any financial hardship, I would let them know, they will then consider moving this on quicker for you.
Your right in another sense though, as some banks do drag their heels, however, the FOS only generally gives them so much time.

I have read on here recently that many have been waiting, and this is the 2nd year, hopefully they will move this on for you very soon, and you receive a good result out of this.
    Fingers crossed.;)

  • Can anyone advise on this, I have written to Blackhorse finance re: ppi on a car loan.
Received a standard rejection letter today stating that as the dealer is no longer trading they are unable to obtain their respone to my complaint - this was that when I purchased the car I was told the ppi was necessary to obtain the credit.
    Do I send the 2nd letter !!!!!
Any help offered will be greatly appreciated.

    Hello and welcome.;)

May I ask the name of the dealer, and the year, so we can check these out - with the financial compensation scheme (FSCS)?
Otherwise you could contact the financial ombudsman service (FOS) and ask them what your best option would be on this one here:

  • Thanks for your quick response's.
The policy was taken out in January 2000 and the car dealer was with Wrights Motor Group of Boston, Lincolnshire (part of the cooperative group)
I know it's an old policy but as I was pressurised into taking it I feel strongly that I have a valid claim against them.:angry:

I would give the FOS a ring and ask if there is any way around this one, see what they have to say.;)

I did find details here as well, not sure if its the same company but if you have any paperwork from these at all, check the company number as these state they are active.

  • Hi all,
I'm trying to help a friend who's in a pretty bad debt problem. For the last 4-5 years i've helped him reduce his debts and shift them to 0% cards etc etc, when we started there was over 12k! He had a very good wage from his last job which helped, but he has now been made redundant (for last year). We had almost cleared the lot (only a 2k credit card left) - now, he's got another card and has racked up another £4k! :( I've just moved this new debt and the old one to a new card @ 0%.

Anyway, point is... we have a claim for nearly £2k from charges on his old Barlcays account - thias is obviously stayed with the rest of them, but i'm thinking of pleading the hardship to see if we can force a payout - anyone had any luck with this route? (I know it's wrong thread, but read on)...

He also had a loan with Nationwide which i took out online. Orginally i DID NOT take out the PPI; however, behind my back he's gone and phoned them and asked for an extra £3k! To do this they obviously cancel the old loan and issue a new one. He did this twice. On these loans he had the PPI. I'm not sure how he was 'sold' this - i assume he phoned them up and done it that way? The loan repayments were £273.43 for 5 years (with the PPI) - do you think we have a chance of reclaiming? Any one had any luck with Nationwide? He would have just said anything to get the money!!!

Thanks and sorry for being a bit of a life-story and off topic in parts!!!

    Appreciate all and any responses...

    Hi there

And well done to you for helping out your friend.;):A

Sorry to hear of the other issues, and I hope he stops buying all this credit, okay most of us have been there and have learnt by this, hopefully things will sort out very soon.

It maybe a good idea for your friend to request a Subject Access Request, also known as a SAR.

With a charge of £10 the bank has 40 days to send all the info they hold on your friend, in regards of all finance he have taken out with them.
This is normally paid by cheque or postal order.
Below is a SAR letter template, post by recorded delivery as well, to make sure it reaches them, you can check this out on tracking on the Royal mail website. Then keep an eye on the 40 days they have from receiving this request.

Then for more info on reclaiming PPI if mis sold, check the link below, its very useful, with a checklist of mis selling reasons and templates and so on here:

Of course please feel free to ask for help when required, good luck with all this.;)
