PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

I have just started to try and claim back the PPI on a loan I repaid in full last January, I have writen to Halifax to ask for a copy of the loan agreement using the template letter but they have replied saying they do not have to send me a copy of the agreement as the loan has already been repaid, What is the next step to get a copy of the agreement? I have checked through the house and no longer have one, is there anyway of getting a copy?
Thanks
Hi there and welcome
Do you still have the loan account number?
If so that is fine.
They may even send you a copy of the agreement for when you start reclaiming from them, this does sometimes happen, as they like to prove us wrong by sending copies that shows agreements signed by us.
There is a way you can check for your loan account number, like when you were paying for the loan, you should fine the acc number next to the loan repayments on bank statements, you can also check them out if you bank online as well, this should allow you to go back as far as 5/6 years.
Hope this helps, but otherwise what we do is when we requesting for the agreement is enclose a £1 postal order or cheque payment, and they should supply by 12 days, did you send the payment for the agreement request? The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

OCEAN FINANCE UPDATE
FOS ruled in my favour regarding mis selling of ppi of about £2.500. Ocean have written back to FOS offering me jus under £700. apparently trying to change the original front loaded loan to a monthly premium???????
Obviously I rejected their pathetic offer and have been informed it will now move from adjudicator to an actual ombudsman.
I have a horrible feeling I am going to end up losing out big time on this case.
the total loan for ppi with interest added was over £4,000 so with interest and everything I was looking at about £5k.
How can that horrible rip off company get away with so much?
just got off the phone with ocean(rang FOS first but they suggested I ring ocean direct as they had no idea on how long ocean's review would take????) who say they have sent an offer to the FOS no details of the figure but looking at mlucyminx's offer, I'm not holding my breath. Having said that I'm glad things are moving a bit0 -
Apologies, i'm a lot further back in the process compared to most of you, I'm just about to start in fact. My first question may be stupid but i'll ask it anyway. I recently paid off a mortgage that i'd had for around 6 years with HSBC I had paymnet PPI on this - can you also claim back from mortgages or does this just relate to personal loans?
Sorry!!0 -

Hi there.;)
As far as I am aware if you were mis sold the insurance that was sold with your mortgage then you can try to reclaim on this, Dunstonh is the one to answer this one for you, so if you want to, you can start your very own thread and dunstonh would not miss this one then.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi, i am about to send of my prelim letter to reclaim ppi from a catalogue firm but i am not sure how the contractual interest works.
For example if one of the payments i am claiming is for £100 from 11/11/2006 and they charged me an interest rate of 39.8% APR would that mean i claim £100 + £229.81 = £329.81.
I dont want to mess this up just incase it gets to court.

Are you thinking of taking this to the courts then? If its not within FOS jurisdiction then it would be an alternative but if taken out since Jan 2005 when all insurance was regulated then you would be able to take this to FOS and you would not need any figures in the complaint letter. I know most catalogues were only under from the 2005 date. When did you open your account?

I was thinking of going the court route because i have read the FOS only apply 8% interest and i was wanting to get the most out of them as possible to help reduce the balance.
The payments started feb 20050 -
Thanks for the reply!
It does actually say on the letter I received from Loyds TSB that they will action the refund to me as soon as they receive the accepteance sheets from me.
It's a good point about the backlogs, I may give them another couple of weeks and then get on the phone to them.
Thanks again.0 -
