regards ...
It would be entirely up to you but what reasons would you state for misselling? If you can use it then you cannot claim it was not of any use so be careful how you word your claim if you are going for the reclaiming.
There is guide here that may be of help in your decision

hello - ive been waiting for 9 weeks for a proper response from northern rock. I have had 3 letters from them saying they 'are gathering all required information regarding sale of the policy' - but this seems a long time. Their last letter suggested I could contact FOS. Wot do u think?0

Hi, I have only just found this site today, where have i been all this time!, and just wondered if anyone can help please. I think I might have valid claim on a personal loan that I took out in Feb 2008. My husband is self employed and I am employed. He is the first customer on the Personal Loan Protector which I am led to believe is making the insurance not valid? I am going to read all the info on the main pages but as I have just come across this forum, I thought I would ask here as well. The loan was for £25,000 over 84 months with Nat West.

Hi and welcome.;)
Well worth checking your policy details as well, as some will cover for self employed, it can vary from one bank to another.
If you do not have these I'm sure NATWEST will provide them to you on request.
I would also check here for more info, as there are many reasons for mis selling, good luck and if you require any help, then please post up.

If your only reason for misselling is that your hubby was self employed then you have to be careful using this as a misselling reason as quite a lot of policies actually do cover self employment. You would have to look through your terms and conditions of the PPI and see if it states about paying class 2 and 4 NI and if you are then you are usually covered.

di3004 and marshallka for you advice and offer of help.
I think I need to read those links first and also contact the bank as I can't find the full terms and conditions so I will see how I get on with that first.
Thanks again.0 -

Yes do check the policy over just in case, but also check on the mis selling checklist on the link that both Marshallka and myself posted in our posts above, as there are many reasons that may also occur to you, even if the stated reason does not apply in your case.
Please keep us posted, all the best. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
