Just successfully won back all the ppi paid on a personal loan (with 8% interest) - £1300. HSBC have stopped selling "old style" ppi and are now offering income protection that can be used as a single policy to cover all of a customers loans/cards etc including non-HSBC. Got a meeting arranged to see the branch specialist. Is this an admission that ppi was generally mis-sold?

    Hello there

    Congratulations.

It is always best to be protected, but you do not have to accept the banks stand alone offer either, even if they have stopped selling on the older way, you could shop around for a quote and make sure it meets all your requirements before you accept, if you click on Insurance above in the red box you should find some info in regards of this type of insurance.

The older way is slowly fading out, and this should not be sold to anyone now.;)

  • I sent my letter to LTSB last week. They've responded with the usual "sorry you have a complaint, we're investigating - will let you know in 8 weeks".

Anyone here been successful with LTSB after the 8 weeks, or do they make you go down the FOS route?

    Hello there.

I think since all the news in the media, that Lloyds TSB seem to have mellowed and also seem to be upholding complaints more now, where before this, they were one of the highest of them to reject them.

Mind did actually go to the FOS, this was a while ago now, and was resolved through them, good luck with yours and please keep us posted.;)

  • Okay,

After reading on here on how to claim PPI back I sent a letter to Natwest requesting that they pay back the PPI as it was missold, my girlfriend is the one who took out the loan and she suffers from Crohn's. The guy who sold it said it would be covered.

    Anyway....

We recieved letters back stating they were looking into it when we decided to use debt advisory to manage our debts whilst my partner was on the phone they said they could help claim PPi back, so my partner was put throught to Investor compensation. She informed the guy that we had already started the claims process and he said that they would take over because it more difficult to be done by ourselves and it could take upto 6 months to recieve any money back.

About 3 weeks later we recieved a letter from Natwest stating that they accepted the claim and would refund us the £1,895 of PPI back, a day later we got a call from Investor compensation asking for £544.08 for services they carried out.

I asked why I should have to pay the money to them when I had carried out the work myself and informed them of the fact that they had lied to get my partner to sign the form.

Now they are calling 5-6 times a day and it is really beginning to put a strain on my partner as she has enough to worry about with her illness.

I have e-mailed a complaint to them about 7 times now and still haven't had a response, I stated I was willing to pay the cost of posting the letter that a computer printed for them to Natwest as this is all I believe I should pay.

I would like some advice and even better if someone is in the similar situation as myself on what my next step on getting this agreement cancelled.

P.S I know it was stupid signing up but I believe my girlfriend was confused when they spoke to her and shouldn't be punished with a bill of this amount for myself doing all the work.

    Thanks

    Mark

Hi Mark, who regulates them? Are they under the Ministry of Justice? This needs to stop.

I would now write to them and send by recorded delivery and state you are now putting a complaint into to the MOJ about them. They will handle this for you and they should not call you like this. This is no better than what they are trying to stop themselves in debt management.

There is a leaflet here from MOJ that tells you how to complain. Good luck
