Unless you had just an income protection policy then it would NOT cover a particular loan or credit card but give you a certain income a month to do with as you saw fit.

I have a feeling that I do have income protection as part of my mortgage insurance - I will need to check first though.

OK WJ best to check just to be double sure because that could back your claim up as in you may have been covered so would not have taken out more PPI because it was not needed.;) Also lots of people are adequately covered with the jobs as well.

  • I have received a letter from the FOS. It is an acknowledgement that they have received my complaints form, but they say that due to the high number of enquiries they will provide with a full response as soon as they can. Can anyone tell me what happens now

    Hi Showergirl.

Sounds like you are in the system but could take up to a year. I think if it is going to be time barred then they look at the complaint quicker. Hope this gets sorted for you quickly.

Hiya showergirl, this is just a standard letter and it means basically that your complaint is in the queuing system. You may receive an update every couple of months but I think they have stopped this now.

I would just try to wait but also give them a ring in a few weeks to see what is happening with it. Sometimes it jogs them along but realistically it could be some months yet.

Let us know and any questions, type them up.;)

Don't worry showergirl. Its the 6 year rule in that a complaint can be taken to the courts and its not 6 years on yours. (ie 6 years from when you had or settled the loan)
    limitations act

    Hi Showergirl

    No problem:confused:

I was informed by FOS that if your complaint is coming up to the 6 year limit. (As in the time since you took the PPI out or six years since you cancelled it) your complaint will be looked at faster than if you took out the PPI say a year ago. Or as I have been informed.

I took out the loan in 2003 so do you think my claim will be dealt with quicker or do I now just play the waiting game. Will let you know if I here any more. Glad you are ALL hear with your advice I would be lost without you
