    Hi,
I have just phoned egg to get an update, the adjudicator and the ombudsman, had ruled in my favour. Good news the ysay the checques are in teh post. Bad news it isn't for as much as I thought.... Basically it isn't for as muc has the Adjudicator said it should be for...? Has anyone else experienced this?

    Many thanks
Its new to me that adjudicators actually work these out??? I would just get back to him and state the discrepancies to him/her.

As amersall has said above sometimes Egg put some back on their cards/loan to cover arrears etc. You could check any accounts with Egg to see if this has happended. It has before to others on here.
  • Hi people

I posted this the other day on the sucess forum but I think only Di saw it before a load of other ppl posted and it got buried. Marshallka, you're good with figures aren't you?

    'Hi

I have just recevied a letter from Egg saying that they are refunding me. I only wrote to them about 3 weeks ago!! However I would like the opinion of all you wise and experience people on here.

Egg dont seem to have actually admitted liability for misselling, but neither is good will mentioned anywhere. The letter says:

'After carrying out a full review of your complaint about your loan payment protection insurance (PPI), we have arranged for all premiums charged to your account to be refunded in full, together with the associated interest charges as follows:

    PPI premium on loan: £656.15
Less PPI refund taken off loan (I settled early): £301.72
Refund of interest charged on PPI premium at contractual loan rate. £103.42

    Total refund due: £457.86

They go on to say that a chq is in the post and they have resolved my complaint and therefore consider it closed but I can refer to the FOS if not happy etc...

What I would like someone to clarify... they havent added any extra interest that I asked for as I was deprived of the money. I understand that they dont *have* to do so, but if I went to the FOS I would probably get this, right?

I'm not trying to be greedy, its just the principle of the thing. However, I really could do with the money atm, and if I went to the FOS I would only get back another £50 quid or so, (I think) so is it really worth it?

I also dont know if I should bother cos of all the stress and hassle it will cause me (I have clinical depression and have just been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome and irritable bowel syndrome!!)

What do you lovely people think?'

    Hello and welcome.

It may be a good idea to start by requesting a Subject Access Request (SAR), you send £10 postal order or cheque payment with this request letter where they send you everything they still hold on you going back as far as 6 years normally, however some are lucky to also receive info going back even earlier.
They have 40 days to comply to this and post by recorded delivery, for your proof of posting.
    SAR template letter here:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1475553

However, if you have online banking, if no old statements to show when the payments were made, this should allow you to go back 6 years, you will find the account number next to the loan repayments made, this will save you then requesting a SAR for now.

Then when your ready you can reclaim on the PPI with your reasons, here is the info for that here with templates etc, and then ask for help when required.;)

You are certainly not being greedy here. You have been deprived and if this was with FOS and you won or a court and you won you would have been awarded this interest. I would ask them in a letter to add the 8% statutory interest on top and see what they say. Say you are now going to take this the FOS if not. It will not be too stressful I would not think. Just write a letter and send by recorded delivery. Good luck
