  • Does anyone have an address for HFC bank to write to?ive looked but cant find it!
  • My partner took out a secured loan in 2004 with ocean finance but it was ge money that provided the loan, in 2006 he settled the loan but when taking out the loan he paid £5000 for payment protection insurance and when he settled the loan he got £2500 back for the ppi. He was definitely mis sold the ppi as he had accident at work a few years before and had ruptured discs in his back and is in receipt of industrial injuries benefit for life. As he has cashed in the policy is there no comeback against the company now? Any help would be gratefully received.
  • Looking for some advice, been summoned to which i am defending, i submitted an i/a, but the company have said that they cannot not provide a statement of needs as at the time (2004) this was not required in the contract for ppi.

Does anyone know if this is the case, or if they are just chancing their luck?

Hi, I would be very grateful if anyone can advise on how to move forward on PPI's which were taken out about 12-15yrs ago. I have written 2-3 times to both Capital one and The Abbey and both have rejected claim. I have addressed both complaints to the FLA who say Capital one and The Abbey aren't one of the companies they are involved with so they won't do anything and these accounts are too old for the ombidsman. I don't know where to turn now. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Did the FOS confirm this to you?

  • Thanks for the reply pinknico. No i haven't approached the FOS, it was just something i have read from Martin Lewis that anything older than x yrs (sorry can't remember exact no of yrs but know we are more) you couldn't involve the FOS. If i am wrong i would be very pleased to hear it.

Getting a refund on settling the loan does not stop you going for mis selling. Go for it.

As they were banks they would have been under the old Banking Ombudsman and FOS can apply the rules of this also for older complaints if you only just became aware of the misselling. (Like most of us cause of the media attention).
