  • Hi all.

I am in the process of trying to find out if i had PPI added to my Natwest credit card account, which I cancelled approx 18mths/2 years ago. Thanks for your original advise Di3004.
I wrote to Natwest asking them to supply me with my original CCA.
However because I could not supply them with the actual card number(which i do not have), they have written back telling me that they can not proceed any further with my request and also returned my £1 cheque.
I supllied them with as much info. about myself as possible.
Surely they know what my credit card number is and are just using stalling tactics.
Any advise on the next step to take would be greately appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi, Thankyou for your advice sorry I am so long getting back to you but as you may be aware I have my hands full at the moment I had already complained to abbey but last week after i read through the policy again and again I believed they were interpreting it wrong so I phoned and explained to them the lady I spoke to went away and came back and confirmed that yes I could make a claim and she has sent out the claim forms wich I am just waiting for them to be returned to me from my husbands 'umbrella' company so that I can then return them to the ins. co. The day after I phoned, the gentleman looking into my complaint phoned me I explained to him about the conversation i had the day before and he has now arranged for the complaint to be withdrawn. I hope it all goes the way it needs to now, and if I have any further negatives I hope yoou won't mind me contacting you ine future. Thanking you very much for your previous help yours truly pipadeepip

Thanks for the nod. I dont actually monitor this thread as its discussion rather than individual cases most of the time. So, I wouldnt have seen it had you not prompted me.

MPPI doesnt have the same scale of issues that loan/credit card PPI has. However, the same eligibility requirements exist, as they do on all insurances when sold under advice. It is on the onus of the seller to make sure you are eligible. You clearly were but your husband wasnt. So, in that case, he should have either been sold a PHI (many mortgage advisers/clerks dont have access to PHI as it is mainly an financial adviser product) or not sold anything that covers him with it being 100% in your name.

You should put in a complaint about not being eligible from the start and that it should have been 100% in your name.

    You should ask them to:
1 - remove your husband, put you on at 100% from the start and increase the payout you had (remember the correction should be backdated, so if they re-issue the cover to the same level/premium with 100% you only, then you are entitled to a greater payout when you claimed).
    OR
2 - refund the portion of premium from the start that was applicable to your husband and correct the policy so its only in your name.

Option 2 is the most likely but no harm in asking for option 1 as well.

You dont have to write war and peace in your complaint letter. Short single page complaints work the best with you bullet pointing the key issues. Indeed, how you wrote the post here is perfectly fine to be put in your complaint.

Hi there and not a problem.

May need a few reminders on this one, to save looking back on all the posts, as many have gone by since I expect, but as Pinknico asked, if you did pay by direct debit, you can check your old monthly bank statements which would show the ref account number next to the repayment.

Or request for a credit report from someone like Experian, or Equifax etc, you will find them on the google search engine.;)

Otherwise if you have already done this, let us know, cheers and good luck.

  • Thanks for your replys.

Did not use direct debits to pay credit card bills.
Also regarding a credit report, I believe they only show you the last 4 digits of the card number. Will Natwest accept this when requesting info on my credit card.???
    Thanks in advance!

    Your welcome.;)

Arh of course it was a credit card and not a loan.

A credit report though may confirm your account number.

So you have obviously no paper credit card statements then either?

I would try anything, have you made contact to the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) for advice on this yet as well Zimmy66?
    https://www.ico.gov.uk/Global/contact_us.aspx

Can't remember if you did or not, but the ICO should be able to advise on your best direction with this matter - hopefully anyway.

Not sure if Natwest will, but I complained to the ICO when Natwest didnt send the info I wanted and the last 4 digits were enough.
