    Talk about taking the p**s:eek::eek::eek:

Surely they can't be allowed to actively market a company in this way!
oh they can. They are actually allowed to do anything and we have to bend over and take it up the !!!.

Goodwill gestures are usually that they are trying to buy you off. Saying that I do not understand what you are saying with your comment above. Can you tell us how much ppi you have paid plus interest etc.

Hello, I'll tell you in full. I borrowed £2500 September 2003. I then refinanced in Jan 2004, for £3500. So the letter I have recieved is so far dealing with the September loan. I paid £154.97 to the PPI, when I refinanced, and paid off the September loan, the total PPI Was for £267.67. I then paid off the loan in full in June 2004. So I guess that really I am owed £267.67? I'm going to call the FOS and see what they say...
  • Sorry for the slight off-topic, but is statutory consumer interest (8%) simple or compund?

Alabaster ceased trading on 31/12/2004, after which date all of the assets of Alabaster were distributed.

    Hi there;)

There is a success thread next to this one, when you have time, take a look on there.
There have been much success with BH, although I am aware they are not always easy, best to keep on at them, I take it you have a case with these?
If so have you started the process of reclaiming yet?

    Hello again,

di3004 - you kindly responded to my last post a couple of weeks ago (pg 244)
just a quick update from RBS despite me writting back to them on behalf of my mother, stating that she herself can offer clear evidence that the PPI was not sold with full explanation, in that she, like my father, believed that the PPI was protection for them both when it was clearly not. Although the forms if you read them do lean towards this as only one signature is required, in that field. Both have signed the loan agreement in three other places as pointed to by the salesman, this does not take away the fact that they left without the PPI being explained in full. Had they been fully informed then it is without doubt that they would have sought to obtain additional cover for my mum, and would NEVER have left the bank with just one of them covered!!
RBS maintain they can find no evidence of them mis-selling the PPI. They have still offered £750 as compensation but advise us to go the FOS.

What do you think? How do we deliver my mums evidence of fact to the FOS and are they likely to accept it? If the FOS dont award in our favour does this result in the £750 offer being withdrawn?

    many thanks

Di should be on later but if you don't mind my penny's worth then I would pursue for the whole amount here. These goodwill gestures are nowhere near the real amounts and they would not offer this if they knew they were in the clear. (please note this is only my opinion and of course if you are happy with the goodwill gesture then take it).

RBS are known for offering people £750 in the hope that people who are desperate will take it.

Also if this was a single premium PPI then this alone is looked at dimly by FOS as they are expensive in the long run. Most single premium complaints are being upheld too.

    Hi there dwales.;)
    Thanks for posting back.

I must agree with Marshallka (Thanks Marshallka);), I personally think its a low standard offer, I would ask if they could reconsider either offering a more reasonable amount, or better still you still believe this was mis sold and want the whole lot plus the interest refunded directly back to you (to your mum).

If they do not, you always have the FOS to turn to, give it a go if you want to, good luck and please let us know.
