if i were you i would go for the whole lot, let rbs know you are not happy and ask them to reconsider let them know you are going to fos, they will hope as times are lean for us all that we will accept any small crumb they will offer us, if they are not at fault why are they offering a goodwill gesture? you need to show them you mean buisness, good luck with whatever you decide to do. by the way if you win they have to pay you 8% interest on top, and your loan payment will go down, they have to put you in the position you were before the ppi was added
    Hi

Thankyou for your comments, I have contacted FOS today. Fingers crossed!

do not take the good will gesture. rbs are settling all claims in full if you send to the FOS. I was told this by the departement they have set up in manchester. I got mine back in full with all the interest and statutory. They are offering goodwill so they dont have to pay back full whack.
Hi, thanks for the advice. Have contacted FOS today. Fingers crossed!

    Morning di,
I didn't fill in the questionnaire, instead I put the polcy number on it and wrote in one of the boxes

"You have all the relevant information, when I sent my original claim on the 22/01/2009, I am now taking my claim to the FOS"

6 months is some delaying tactic wouldn't you think lol

    Good luck with this Sparky.;)

Blimey yes that does seem to be a stalling tactic - definately....., I'm sure the FOS will consider this in your favour for you, fingers crossed. X

    Hello,

I took PPI with a loan about 9 years ago and was told i had to take it or i wouldn't get accepted. As it so happens I lost my job and didn't claim. Now 9 years down the line i'm still paying for the loan with an aggreement with the bank as the loan went to debt collectors and they eventually found me, so i pay a small amount i can afford each month.

Do i have a case as evidently the insurance didn't work or was even any use??

    Hi there

I know its some years ago but there is no harm in trying.

So I would give it your best shot.

Reclaim guidelines and templates here with useful information:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

Write your own reasons, they have 8 weeks to respond in full, let us know what they say in the first letter and we shall move on to the next letter if they fob you off with a standard response, hopefully they will resolve this for you, good luck and post by recorded delivery.;)

Well I sent a final letter to Lloyds saying that I would be taking my complaint to the FOS. Surprise, surprise - not a word back from them. Thoroughly miffed with their lack of response.

So starting to complete the FOS form and have got stuck on the "date you opened the account" I have dug out my credit agreement but it has no dates on them. Do I need to put dates? If I don't have exact dates do I need to submit a SAR to Lloyds?

According to Lloyds the reason that they are delaying is because "can't find" my paperwork.

    Any ideas?

  • Hi,

I have a Capital One visa account that was opened 25/01/2005.

Initially i was paying payment protection insurance because i thought it was mandatory.

In february last year after realising how much this was costing me and that the PPI was not mandatory i requested that this be removed via the online service provided by Capital One. They responded via the same online service to say that the PPI was now removed from the account.

Considering that i was paying for something that i thought was mandatory for 3 years can i claim this back even though i cancelled it ?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
  • Hi,
I hope that somebody more experienced than myself can advise me regarding OPPI insurance taken out at the beginning of 2001 with a new credit card.
I have been paying the premium every month for 8 years thinking that I was covered but after hours spent on the phone over the last 2 days it appears that no policy was ever issued and I am not covered by insurance.
Will I be able to claim all of my considerable payments back.

    Sandy.

    Hi there

And yes due to your reason I believe so.

Give it a go and do not worry if you receive the final response, because you bought online that you must have been aware and so on, this is standard, if they do fob you off then write back to them again, in the final letter they should give you details of the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) if your not satisfied etc.

    More info on reclaiming here:

This is the link to guidelines and templates but write in your own reasons, they have 8 weeks to respond, and post by recorded delivery and let us know how you get on and if you require further help, good luck.;)
