I will get just over £600 and I work that out to be about right. They also advised me of my new monthly payment of which they have taken the monthly PPI amount off.
I am reasonably happy with it all, I only wrote one letter and it has taken around two months for them to sort out. Just a pity they won't give me the money in my hand!

I received a letter from Bank of Scotland yesterday telling me they had paid the £632 to my bank account (they mean loan account) and whilst my account is being managed correctly they have reduced my agreed monthly payment from £172.94 to £148 (and some pence but I don't have the letter in front of me and I can't remember the pence) starting as of my next payment due date (6th May).
So, from start to finish it took a total of 3 months and 8 days from me sending my original letter to their final confirmation letter arriving yesterday. I only wrote one letter and they have done the rest. Can't really argue with that!

Details of:
SAR (SUBJECT ACCESS REQUEST)
For anyone requesting a Subject Access Request (SAR), they have 40 days to comply and send you all the information they have on you on your accounts.
£10 cheque payment or postal order is required.
Always post by recorded delivery.
When you receive the SAR, you should receive all that is requested within the template, if in doubt just post up here where someone will be able to confirm what is what.
You will or should receive all information going back as far as 6 years, you may be lucky to receive information going back even further, every company varies from one to the other.
Write again to the company if you believe they have not given everything requested, they should write back within a short time and confirm if that is everything they do have on you and your account(s) with them.
You do not always receive recorded discs, however phone calls made Jan 2005 after may have been recorded, where they may then supply the recordings, but otherwise you should receive transcripts of dates, times etc of when calls were made and the reasons for the phone calls.
If there were a joint loan taken out, and you both require details, most companies will want 2 payments of £10 x 2 = £20 cheque or postal order and require 2 signatures, check this with the company concerned to save on time and any come backs.
Again if you feel let down you can always contact the Information commissioners Office, known as the ICO who will be able to direct you here, here is the ICO website for your interest, check this out, as more information will be within their website.
Sorry, I am new to this forum. I had a few loans in the past all in the last 6 years. I have moved a few times and some of my paperwork went missing. I cannot remember the account numbers but I do know that at least 2 of these loans were protected, this was around 2004. Is this the sort of letter I should send to get all these details from the bank. Also, how can I be sure that they don't send the updated version of the PPI terms?
Thanks in advance and sorry if this has already been answered.0 -

Hi there
And yes this is the letter you should be sending to request for all your information going back as far as 6 yrs.
If it just the agreement you require for now, you can write to request for this alone by sending a £1 postal order or cheque payment for this request, they should supply by 12 days.
They should still have the information from when You taken out the finance with PPI and receive that actual dated information, I'm sure you may be able to tell when this arrives.
For PPI reclaiming, there is a link here with reclaim templates, follow the reclaiming procedures here:

Good luck and just yell for help when required.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi Im new to these forums & was hoping for somw help. I took out a Firstplus loan, secured on my house & was sold a PPI & told that if I didn't make a claim my insurance money would be paid back to me after 5 years. Now I dont know whether to continue paying (I have another 3 years before the 5 years are up) or attempt to cancel this PPI. If I do cancel can I reclaim the insurance money already paid. I am very confused about this whole situation & and any help anyone could offer would be truely appreciated...
thank you0 -

Hi and welcome.;)
You will come across many others who have complaints in regards of this company.
Don't know what it states in the terms and conds of the policy if cancelling, as they all differ from one company to another and I am sure others who have had dealings with these will be able to offer some advice in the cancellation matter.
However, for reclaiming, here is a link here to help you through this with useful information:
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance
Follow the reclaiming procedures and keep on at them until you receive the final response.
In the final response they should give details of the FOS (Financial ombudsman service).
Post all letters by recorded delivery.
Good luck through this, also when you do have some time, check through the threads in regards of this company.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi, I wonder if any can help me, I took out a loan of £8000 with First Direct in 2004. The bank has added PPI as a lump sum to the loan amount. I didn't realise that until after I got the statement where the amount was nearly £10'000. When I rang them they said that PPI was necessary to get the loan and it was a standard industry practice. After a while I transfered the loan to another bank paying it out completely. At the moment I am on Debt management plan and pay reduced payments to First direct on my card loan. Does anyone know if I can still claim PPI back. £2000 seems to be alot to just give to a bank as a gift. Many thanks in advance for your help. Alex0

Hi Alex
And yes you go for it , and it is a lot there.
Here more info and templates:
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance
You do have a good reason already, so add that in the template letter, they have 8 weeks to respond in full.
Another letter maybe required if they don't resolve this to your satisfaction, in the final response they should give details on the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) if eligible.
Good luck and post all letters by recorded delivery.
