    Hi

Give us a yell if you need help with this.

I will tell you anyway that they have 8 weeks to respond in full.

The template letters are useful on that link.
    Write in your own reasons.

If they do not resolve this in the first response, they should give you the opportunity to write back again with further information.

In the final letter, they should give details of the financial ombudsman service if eligible.

Do you mind telling me how long ago this was taken out, what year?
    Cheers.;)

    January 2005,
Our mortgage is with Halfax and the insurance was all apart of the paper we signed then.
my wife already had life insurance with another company which covers mortgage repayments incase of illness( we have just discovered this) , the original letter from Halifax implies you would need cover, the usual stuff "what happens if your ill etc". . We are both NHS workers whose jobs are very secure with good sick pay benefits, so we do feel it is not needed and are about to cancel the policy. This got me thinking if we had been misold. Hope this helps

Yes I see your point here, when I worked for the NHS many moons ago lol, there were benefits then, you do have a case here with this then, where you were already protected, I would write that down as a reason.
    Its a good one anyway.;)
Tell them you were already protected, but this was not discussed on the purchase of this policy.

  • Had another loan with Black Horse before January 2005 but unfortunately was told by the FOS that they weren't members then so can't claim my PPI etc...... Does anyone know if it would still be possible for me to go through the courts? TA xxxx

You can do and people have been successful doing that, however from what I understand you have to make sure that the paperwork etc is spot on as I have read on here that the Lenders are employing more powerful lawyers to defend such claims. Saying that I do not want to put you off. Am not sure how much it costs to go down that route but am sure it is not a huge amount.. If you do please let us know how you get on.

If you take a look on the claim bank charges back thread there are a lot of knowledgeable people on there who give sample letter to write. I know it is not the same as PPI but take a look so that you are aware.:D

Hi took out a loan 6 years ago (still has 4 years left) and was sold ppi insurance at £30 per month. Because it was so long ago i can't remember whether it was compulsory or not. The paperwork shows the insurance as a lump sum added to the loan. Can i make a claim? Loan is with Tesco finance previously rbs.
Also I am going to cancel insurance but want to take out another policy who would you recommend as there seems so many.

    Thanks

    Thanks for that Di,
We are gutted about the letter, i,ll do another letter tonight and se if we have any joy. I still cannot get my head around PPI costing thousands (nearly 8) for 18 months of cover that we didn't need or require.
    Thanks again

Kaz, I know what you mean in regards of that company, and its a heck of a lot of money involved, the FOS will see through these.;)
Hopefully it won't go that far.
Good luck and let us know if you need further help with this.:AX

Ok, after months of headaches I have finally received a settlement figure from LLoyds. £2449.76 which I consider to be very low considering what I paid them.

The breakdown of the refund is thus

Loan recalculation after removal of PPI = £909.81
23 monthly ppi payments (even though it was a single premium policy = £1000.73
    FOS compensation = £200.00
    Interest on premiums = £339.22

Not being greedy but I paid them back a total of £12133.13 after 23 months on an £8000 loan including the rebate.

am I being greedy or is this right.?
hi, they only give you back ppi payments you have actually made, the remaining ppi comes off your loan balance, that does sound ok to me, but i am sure someone (turbo) on this site will let you know,
