  • Hi all

After reading a lot of posts over the last couple of days, I have finally decided to take the plunge and try and retrieve some of my PPI payments.

I have a personal loan with Santander/Cahoot (ends April this year,) and 2 no. credit cards (Cap 1 & Nationwide)
I have checked statements, and have confirmed I am definately paying PPI on all 3 items (all dating back to 2006 time.)

I have to be honest, I don't know if I requested PPI on any of them, but if I have, I suspect I would have (without really thinking about it,) agreed to include them to ensure my application was accepted (as you do!!)

    So far, I have :

1/ Lodged a phone complaint with Santander, indicating that I was informed that taking PPI would improve my chances of being accepted
They have raised as a complaint and advised 8 weeks for decision

2/ Sent secure email to Capital One requesting copies of my original T&C's and application/acceptance documentation
I have received email indicating these will be sent out in next week or 2

3/ Sent secure email to Nationwide requesting copies of my original T&C's and application/acceptance documentation

I am a 100% newbie at this sort of thing, so I would appreciate any feedback as to whether or not I should be doing anything else in the meantime, or would you suggest approaching it differently?
Or I suppose my main question is, do you think this is a non-starter?

Any assistance would be warmly received

I put in a claim with cap one as i am a civil servant etc, they gave me a final response saying that I had said yes over the phone when activating my card two years after having the card and that when i did i was within the criteria to claim. I wrote back saying no i never, and i have a copy of the agreement that states i did not want it. They wrote back saying tough we aint paying up, so now going to FOS.
    So annoying......:(

If this was not a final response, get back to them.
Ask them for the recording of the sales call to send to FOS,ask them why you would not have ppi on the application form and then take it after talking to someone!! unless they convinced you to take it.

If it was the final response,go to FOS,use the argument above.

Go on their website and phone them in the first instance. Give them your card number and say you want to register a PPI mis-sold complaint. Then sit back and wait....:D

Hi,you only need the questionnaire, there is space on there for anything you wish to add,if there is not enough room to do this, then put the rest on a separate piece of paper.
  • Have now sent the SAR to the Halifax will. Will ask for more advise when the information is received, thanks for all your help.

We sent a cheque with a SAR request to the halifax. They have cashed the cheque but nothing has come through the post yet, what should we do now? Thanks for your help.

    Quick question -

Sent a letter to Natwest asking for the information under section 77 of the CCA with regards to my loans and I have just received a letter back from them saying that as the loans have ended they have no obligation to provide the information I requested.

I don't have the reference numbers for the loans as they were paid off in June 2006 - can I still send them a PPI claim form without the policy numbers??

    Help!!!

If you have internet banking,go on your DD list,if the DD details are still there, the account numbers will be,may be wroth giving your bank a ring and see if they can find them if you do not do internet banking.

You could get a free 30 trial of your credit report, this will show the last 4 digits of the account number, you could use these.

You could put a claim in without the account numbers, just give all the info you can,but this will waste time if they cannot find you.
You could SAR for £10,this will get all the info you need.

Thats what I thought, they wouldnt offer me half if didnt think they need to but half is better than the nothing I had last week?

If they have agreed to pay you half back on a ppi that was not ppi and is not covered by the usual rules, then why would they pay you half?? write back to them and ask this question,if this was not ppi why would they make an offer, tell them that half is not good enough and ask them to reconsider,if they wont, then tell them you will go to FOS.

They may come back with a more generous offer! they may not,but you wont know until you try.
