Cheers for that dilus, I hadn't seen your post. Thats really good result. You've made my mind up. I'm just gonna lodge a complaint and I'll see where we go from there. And thank you for your advice amersall, I hadn't thought of it from that point of view.
You are very welcome,good luck.0 -
Just to update you all,
I claimed ppi from citi finance back in october for a loan I had around 2004, had no idea how much it was for or how long it was for, just had information from bank statements. They wrote back within a week saying they would give me a response as soon as possible and at the latest 25th January.
true to their word, yesterday 24th Jan I received a letter saying they had upheld my complaint for both (didnt realise I had two) loans and redress would be £486.78, cheque would be sent in 7 to 10 days...
HAPPY DAYZ...._party_
then having read the whole letter they go on to say that they are also dealing with the claim I put into them for the Future mortgage secured loans that they are now responsible for, this will be received in a separate letter.
This took one letter for each claim, 12 weeks and no effort
Anyone wondering if its worth it??? GO AHEAD IT'S EASYIF HIND SIGHT WAS FORESIGHT WOULD I STILL NEED TO GO TO THE OPTICIANS???0 -
Hi Folks,
Firstly, sorry if this is in the wrong place.... I haven't posted on here for years (if ever) so please re-direct me if this is the case.
I'll try to keep this LONG story as short as possible.
Took out a mortgage with Sainsbury's Bank in Oct 1999.
Was unable to take to my 2nd home in July 2007 as sainsbury's no longer sold mortgages.
Settled the loan & re-mortgaged twice since then.
Decided to see if I was mis-sold PPI by Sainsbury's today, only to be faced with the following....
I have no paperwork so called Sainsbury's to get details.
Gave the operator my info & was told that she could see my account no, but wasn't allowed to give it to me.
Transferred 5 times & told no details for me on the system, I eventually got my account no!
Made a further 4 calls to various depts. to be told that my account no doesn't show up as it was a bank of scotland account.
Called BoS...1st person said no details about the loan. 2nd person said I didn't have PPI.
Funnily enough, I'm struggling to believe them now, so
has anyone else had a Sainbury's mortgage which was linked to BoS at around this time? (1999) If so, did you have PPI? (even if they called it something else).
Or have you had similar experiences with these companies, if so, how did you get them to tell the truth/supply you with the original agreement/documentation, without spending an eternity on the phone.... which has cost me an entire days wages.
Don't worry, if I find I have beeen mis-sold PPI, I intend to pursue loss of earnings too.... Simply because the lies have cost me a days wages, & because I had to argue with the first operator about whether or not Sainsbury's actually sold mortgages back then! (she finally believed me when I asked if she would forget who she had paid thousands of pounds to for seven years!):rotfl:

Thank you to amersall and beamerguy for answering my query. Just one more thing. I sent away the FOS questionnaire to beneficial finance along with my loan documentation in relation to a personal loan which had PPI. Should I have just sent a letter or was I correct to send the FOS questionnaire with supporting documentation?
Many thanks

Hi Blackpoolguy79, you have done exactly what you needed to, a supporting letter is optional, everything they need to know, you will have stated on the questionnaire and the documentation, sit back and chill and hopefully you will get an acknowledgement soon, good luck and keep us postedSuccesses
Sainsbury's/BOS £6,400 Paid

Hi there, when you paid the ppi each month, your ppi total will have been reduced by interest as well, this interest you dont get back as the ppi should not have been on there in the first place so they have to take this back,if they give this to you, then it has to stay on the loan balance, hence the rise in the loan balance.
Are you with me so far?.
Times the monthly ppi payment by the months you paid this and this is what you get back plus the 8%.
They take the total ppi off the loan and reset this so your loan balance reduces by the ppi total amount (not the interest) and your monthly payment goes down by the ppi amount.
The ppi was 9000 and they are giving you this back plus interest
(the ppi amount is on the loan to term end,how have you paid all this ppi back? you have not hence the balance if you take the whole amount back to you)
they are also taking the ppi of 9000 off the loan, they cannot give you this back twice,i hope i am making sense to you!! dont think i am explaining this very well!!
Niggly is the genius with FP figures, but he has not been on here for a while, hopefully he can explain this better if he comes back on.
I cannot beieve what they have done......
They sent me their final response above which covered 2 loan, which i accepted. This was at the beginning oof November. After accepting their offer i was told to expect payment within 6 to 8weeks....
Well, about 6 weeks later, we recieve a letter basically saying 'sorry, we made a mistake, here is our new final response'
They're now saying that one of the loans was taken through a 3rd party and so they aren't paying up, and the figure for the other one is lower......
There we were, expecting a cheque for 15k, now they're only offering 10!
Can they do this after we accpted? We're now waiting on the ombudsman, which could take up to 2 years apprently!!
On the basis that we accepted their offer, we pressed on with some building work. We now hve a gaping hole in our dining roomthat we can't afford to get fixed!!0 -

I have a general(ish) question regarding claiming PPI from a past mortgate.
If I have paid PPI for a mortgate but I obtained the mortgage through a financial advise company, who do I contact to attempt to claim it back from?
Any help will be appreciated!0 -
Hi everyone, just looking for a bit of advice. My partner took out a loan with Black Horse for 36 months for a motorbike back in August 2007 and there was PPI insurance on this. To be honest we cant remember if we were asked about the insurance or not. However, during the course of the loan my partner tried to make a claim as he was off work for 6 weeks due to stress from seeing his best friend killed on his motorbike. They refused to pay. Do you think he has a claim.
Just checked the finance agreement - it states no payment protection plan.
The policy document does not state anything about stress/anxiety be excluded. He was actually signed off with Post Traumatic Stress. Could I also make a claim for the payment of £96 that they should have paid when he tried to claim. Thanks in advance for any replies.0 -
Hi, could someone give me some advice please? I took out a loan with Barclays in 1997, defaulted in 2000 due to a difficult pregnancy which the ppi wouldn't cover after I was made redundant. The debt was passed on to (i think) CDS? and I have made regular monthly payments of £5 ever since. Would I qualify for reclaiming ppi?
Thank you in advance for any help/advice0
