Morning, quick success story, nationwide responded to me yesterday and despite me signing the forms wanting their loancare cover they agreed that I didn't have all the facts so will be refunding me, by my calculations over £750! Result, still waiting to hear from the crooks of capital one though

The crooks at Capital One is right, they committed fraud on a major scale

    Hi there

I was wondering if you may help me.

I have been trying to get my head round all the PPI info but I am still struggling slightly with it all.

I have has a RBS Mastercard since 1999 and upon checking my online banking I am still paying for a PPI I do not recall agreeing to (or needing at the time when I took the Mastercard out) would my next step be to get a copy of the contract from RBS?

I also had a RBS loan from 2002 to 2007, should I request information on this too?

Thanks in advance as I am rather confused by it all.

Hi, if you feel you did not agree to the PPI then use the check list below and claim back all payments. Re your loan, did you have protection insurance on that ?

*Did YOUR BANK explain the full cost of the PPI when you took out the loan?
*Did you specifically ask YOUR BANK for PPI?
*Did YOUR BANK make clear that PPI was optional?
*Did YOUR BANK ask you about your medical history?
*Did YOUR BANK ask you about any existing payment cover?
*Did you know that YOUR BANK added a PPI policy to your loan?
*Do you think YOUR BANK treated you fairly?
*Did YOUR BANK ask if you have any existing medical conditions?
*Did YOUR BANK ask if you were entitled to sick pay from your employer?
*Did YOUR BANK add the PPI without your permission

If you answered no to any one of the above you could be owed thousands of pounds

    Hi forum,
I have been sitting going through some paperwork this evening and came across my agreement for a secured loan for £10,500 from Barclays which I took out in December 2007. I noticed that the term of the PPI insurance was only 60 months but that I had to pay the monthly premium for the whole 120 month term of the loan. I spoke to Barclays and was told that the initial PPI amount would be paid back to me in January 2013 and this is for £2571.45. I was not aware that I would be uninsured after the 60 months. Do you think I have a case for a PPI reclaim? Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks in anticipation.

FRONT LOADED .... frowned upon by the FSA. Did the bank explain the PPI fully to you, if not, you can claim back

    Hi

I was just wondering if anyone else has had any luck claiming back PPI from MBNA. My partner and I applied for a credit card online about 3 years ago and the PPI was automatically added to the application with no option to remove it.

Also I was wondering if it matters if my partner is self employed? Does anyone know if the PPI is still valid. I have tried to contact MBNA today to find this out and they have advised me that it will take up to 5 working days for someone to call me back to answer my query!

I would really appreciate anyone's advice.

    Thanks

Dont bother waiting, you have a good cause to issue a complaint. If they added it automatically and gave you no option, did not explain it, gave you a cooling off period etc. MBNA are well known for automatically adding PPI, the salesman earned good commission.

  • Hi Guys, I have finally taken the step and started trying to reclaim ppi where possible. I have a paid off Halifax loan which states "you agree to pay the premium of £0.00 (premium includes insurance premium tax at %), does this mean I simply didn`t take the insurance? Also I found an insurance policy which states IPT @ 5% £19.80, Don`t remember them asking em to take that out? is this insurance? Hoping someone can advise... Thanks..Paul :)

    Yes you have a claim.
    Put this.

We/I believe we were mis sold the ppi on the above account number, and would like recordings,if any to the contrary of my/our reasons for mis sell set out below.

1)We/I were not told that the ppi was in effect another loan that was added to the original loan and was repayable over the loan term with interest.

    2) We/I were told that the ppi was a 5 year policy, but not told the ppi would still be on the loan to term end with interest.

    3) We/I were told that if we did not make a claim,or go into arrears on the ppi ,after 5 years we would receive the cashback of ppi but this would not include the interest made on these payments that we paid over the 5 years.

In line with the FOS recommendations it is requested that the overall situation be restored as if PPI had never been included. This will entail:
A refund of the monthly payments that have actually been paid towards the overall loan in excess of those that would have been needed, if the original loan had been sold without the PPI policy.

In addition, interest at the rate of 8% simple per annum to any excess payments made from the time each payment was made to the point that Barclays pays them back to us. We/i believe we were not given enough information on this ppi to make an informed decision. Had we/i known the full cost of this ppi we would not have taken it.

Unless you can prove without doubt that this PPI policy was fair, reasonable and suitable for my/our circumstances we/I will require you to rearrange the loan as if PPI had never been included on the above loan

Dont hang on for the cash back, you only get the ppi amount to you with none of the interest that you paid for 5 years and the ppi is still on the loan.

When you win mis sell, the whole ppi is taken off the loan, the ppi that you have paid to date will be given back to you with 8% interest.
Your monthly payment reduces by the ppi monthly amount.

The Halifax loan does not have ppi on as you are paying zero premium,if you had ppi on this loan it would show as a seperate amount.

IPT is insurance premium tax,you pay this for any insurance you take, life, house, travel insurance etc.
If you know who this was from, then query it with them as to what insurance it is for.

    Hi Everyone

I am finally taking the step to try and reclaim my PPI.

I have downloaded my credit history and been though all the loans I want to claim for. I was just wondering whether I will need the full account number when I send my initial letter? On my credit history I only have about the last 4 digits. If so, any ideas how I get this information as I no longer have any of my account details.

    Thanks
    Emma
Some banks can find you from the last or first few digits, put as much info as you can like address if you took these out and then moved later etc.

Would be worth giving the banks a ring and asking.

    Hi

I've had a letter back from First Plus in response to the above letter I sent them.

They are saying that as the loan and insurance were sold to us by Norton Finance they have forwarded the details of our concerns to them to deal with.

Is this correct? or are they ducking out?

The letter says that this is their Final Response and if I am unhappy then I should contact the FOS.

Do I just wait to hear from Norton Finance or should I send them a letter directly?

    I'm a bit confused now :(

    Pia
Wait until you get a reply from Norton, this loan was 2007,they cannot pass the buck,if Norton say "no" then take this to FOS.This ppi is a uphold.
