Hi emrose you could cca them which would cost you £1.00 but probably d.p would refuse to give you this as the account is closed, you could just try asking them and if you get no joy the only other ways are check your credit score with a company like experian or sar them which will cost you a tenner

  • Good Morning all,

I recently made a sucessful reclaim against RBS for a NatWest credit card, which had mis-sold PPI due to my position as a member of the armed forces (this complaint went through the FOS due to the judicial review delay). Initially they did not provide a breakdown of the calculations however when I badgered them the did provide a breakdown and the reclaim of PPI payments only goes back to Aug 2001,which they claim is the first statement. During the reclaim process I did a SAR on NatWest and whilst they only provided 6 years of statements, as expected, I do now have a copy of my credit agreement which clearly shows that the card was opened with PPI attached in May 1998. Therefore RBS seem to have ignored over 3 years of payments, and as such are not really putting me in a position as I would be if no PPI had been applied. Any thoughts on the best way to pursue this?

Hi, it's fairly easy, as you have the credit agreement to prove the PPI payments, write and request these payments to be refunded with interest. Don't let the RBS fob you off saying it goes back too far, the FSA have recently said they cannot do this.

    Good luck, you will win
  • Hi,

I have recently sent a letter off to Santander to ask for my records for both a River Island and Newlook Store card, They have sent me the copy of my signed agreement today in the post.

However the box where it said tick and sign for account cover was signed by myself but it was over 8 years ago now, so I don't know if I asked for it or not, I'm sure I wouldn't have as that would be an extra cost to me.

Should I still send them a template letter?

Any advice would be fantastic, thanks :-)
I will stop spending on things I don't need

    Lloyds TSB CC - £3577/£3650, HSBC CC - £2425/£2621, VIRGIN CC - £5349/£5405, BARCLAY'S CC - £3700, HALIFAX - £109/£199

Pay off all your debt by Christmas 2012 - number #145 £608.00/£15,313
  • Hi,
I have been advised by a friend to put in a claim for PPI as she has just received £2500. I have looked through this site for advice but am a bit confused. I have found some paperwork with account numbers etc for a loan and credit card but cant find any details about if I have actually bought PPI or not. What I wanted to know is can you just send off a letter with account numbers and other info and just let them check if you have been mis sold insurance or do you actually need to know if you had it in the first place? Sorry if this sounds a bit garbled but I dont want to go through a claims company as they charge, I'd rather do it myself. Thanks :)

Whether or not you signed for it, the all important points are explained below so if you can answer no to one or more, put your claim in now

*Did YOUR BANK explain the full cost of the PPI when you took out the loan?
*Did you specifically ask YOUR BANK for PPI?
*Did YOUR BANK make clear that PPI was optional?
*Did YOUR BANK ask you about your medical history?
*Did YOUR BANK ask you about any existing payment cover?
*Did you know that YOUR BANK added a PPI policy to your loan?
*Do you think YOUR BANK treated you fairly?
*Did YOUR BANK ask if you have any existing medical conditions?
*Did YOUR BANK ask if you were entitled to sick pay from your employer?

Hi well you certainly need to know if you had PPI so check all your paperwork and failing that, sent them a SAR which costs £10, they must provide the information to you

    Hi Phillipa

Can you provide an insight onhow FOS works.

I have sent my acceptance to FOS, which was supposed to be forwarded to Tesco Personal Finance as soon as it was recived. Its been almost a week since i sent it via recorded delivery and as yet, Tesco are claiming that FIOS have not sent them my acceptance and that they will not start any calculation work on my claim until it has been received.

Why is there such a delay in doing a simplte thing such as forwarding my acceptance to them. It took 5 weeks for FOS to send me the original acceptance letter and not a further delay.

Not having a personal dig at yourself, just looking for clarification on why simple letter are not dealt with within a reasonable time frame.

    Thanking you in advance.

    Hello there Sunnyk

I'm sorry to hear about the delay. I can take a look into this for you, just email me your reference number or postcode to forumresponses@financial-ombudsman.org.uk. Alternatively, if you call the adjudicator dealing with your case directly they should be able to give you an update.

    Thanks
    Phillipa
