Hi Phillipa, it is nice to see the FOS on here. You have clearly been reading the posts and your comment above is interesting. As you will see a few posts back, a member had their credit card cancelled because they were reclaiming the PPI. Clearly this not only against the law but they are being vindictive as well. Barclays (Egg) seem to be running into a lot of problems recently, how would you advise people who are claiming and stil yet to claim as the PPI reclaim scenario has only just started and we do not want to put consumers off for claiming back on fraudulent PPI's

    Hello beamerguy.

Thanks for your post. If someone feels that a business has acted unfairly or unreasonably in the way they've dealt with their account, they can contact the ombudsman, who will look at both sides of the issue. Where we find that the business has not acted fairly - we have the power to ask a business to put things right. There may be valid reasons behind the business closing an account but business do not generally just close an account because a consumer has made a complaint.

    Thanks Phillipa

Thanks Phillipa, we both /all know that the banks are dragging their heels with repayments and "passing the buck" on to the FOS, knowing they will probably have to pay but that would be weeks away.
Unfair practice to the consumer and the FOS ?

What plans do you have to penalise the banks for playing these stupid games

I have just had a rejection from Barclaycard stating it was sold to me before 2001, it was 1994 and still active, I have read alot of posts on here and have e-mailed Bob with a "severe" complaint but do you have any other advise?

Does not matter when it was sold, if you can answer NO to one or more of these questions, you have a valid claim so GO FOR IT

*Did YOUR BANK explain the full cost of the PPI when you took out the loan?
*Did you specifically ask YOUR BANK for PPI?
*Did YOUR BANK make clear that PPI was optional?
*Did YOUR BANK ask you about your medical history?
*Did YOUR BANK ask you about any existing payment cover?
*Did you know that YOUR BANK added a PPI policy to your loan?
*Do you think YOUR BANK treated you fairly?
*Did YOUR BANK ask if you have any existing medical conditions?
*Did YOUR BANK ask if you were entitled to sick pay from your employer?

hi phillipa as beamer says the fsa seem to be doing nothing regarding making the banks play fair with there customers, are there any plans for any action planned as the banks seem to be using you as there complaint resolution system now which isn't fair to you or consumers. The number of people that the banks are lying to, telling them that they never even had ppi which is a lie, i know this as LTSB have done this with me, it seems like the banks have gone back in there attitudes to pre judicial review which is to try at any cost to get out of paying people they have ripped off or have they simply run out of money? nice too see you on here and keep up the good work.:)

Hi lisa i'd talk to the fos anyway as they might be able to open a case with the insurer

    Hi Cappo
Spoke to FOS today and the sentence in the letter that states it cant be taken to FOS because the agreement was made before 2001 is rubbish, FOS have taken on the case, so thank you so much

    100% RIGHT CAPPO, WELL SAID.

However, I do not think Phillipa will be around here very much, the questions we have asked are well beyond them, indeed the banks are currently walking all over the FOS AND TO THEM, the FOS is a joke, that includes the FSA who are probably the most useless authority in the UK. We will see what 2012 brings Cappo, one think is for certain, there is no point the FOS being part of this forum if they can't do much
