Thanks ....too far back to be certain BUT I very much doubt it my OH was self employed and I worked for him and we had no need for ppi
because of being covered in any event...ie life policies and I'm dam certain he wouldn't of dared to make me redundant, or not paid me If I became ill.:rotfl::rotfl:
This is the only bit that worries me it smacks of an instant refusal
This communication should be viewed as our final response in relation to this matter, and I have to inform you that as the date of this sale was before Barclays became signatories to the General Insurance Standards Council Code of Practice (on 21 November 2001); I regret that your complaint is not eligible for referral to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
HA HA, just let it fall on deaf ears, salesman are trained to ignore negative comments and go back with positive ones, thats what you are about to do0 -
Hi
I am hoping to get some advice from you all. I have had a credit card formerly with Midland bank and now HSBC for over 20 years. At the time i first applied for this card i assumed payment protection insurance was was mandatory when taking out the credit card and periodically when using the card and not clearing the balance i have been charged the fee each month.
I have to admit much to my embarassment i have until fairly recently, been very lax in taking an interest in this sort of thing until recent events with the banks.
My question is: would this payment protection insurance be reclaimable? i have had a brief look at the reclaim section on this site but was not sure whether my circumstances would be relevant as my impression was PPI references were involving things like loans and if you purchase items on credit over a term or period.
any advice gratefully received!
Yours
a less lax monkey:)0 -
Hi there
I hope you can help. I've just read the article on reclaiming PPI on credit cards and think my husband probably has a case against Egg but we are worried if we write and complain they will close his account and ask for outstanding balance paying (which we definitely cannot afford to do). Is this the kind of thing that is happening?
Thanks!
Gaspode
Hello gaspode.
I work for the Financial Ombudsman Service - the free service set up by law with the power to sort out problems between consumers and financial businesses. Making a complaint about the sale of a PPI policy will not affect your account and the credit card company has to handle your complaint fairly, by law. However, if you have any problems the ombudsman service may be able to help on 0300 123 9 123 or at financial-ombudsman.org.uk.
Thanks
Phillipa

Hi Phillipa, it is nice to see the FOS on here. You have clearly been reading the posts and your comment above is interesting. As you will see a few posts back, a member had their credit card cancelled because they were reclaiming the PPI. Clearly this not only against the law but they are being vindictive as well. Barclays (Egg) seem to be running into a lot of problems recently, how would you advise people who are claiming and stil yet to claim as the PPI reclaim scenario has only just started and we do not want to put consumers off for claiming back on fraudulent PPI's0 -

Bang on again beamerguy I have checked with the FOS (they really are very helpful...and quick) the date of my card 1999 is irrelevant.
So I will be getting a claim in the post ASAP
once again thank you for your help:T0 -
Hi AMERSALL, could you point me to these as I really cannot see a company repaying premiums after a successful claim against the policy has been made
Otheres on here have posted that they
"dont know if i can claim mis sell because i used the insurance"
and have posted full redress after putting claims in.
Dont think i am looking through thousands of posts just to find the relevant ones!!.
When my son gets in,as you disbelieve me,i will get him to scan his redress letter to show that a claim has been deducted from the total redress.
My hubbys and mine were over 12 months ago and paperwork shredded, otherwise i would get my son to scan those too.0 -

Evening all, writing here on behalf of an elderly friend. He received a letter on 9 Sep 11 from Barclays Bank telling him that they upheld his complaint and his "redress" would be £10,308.75, the letter also stated they would not revise that offer at a later date. He thought that this was excessive as he only expected a few hundred pounds but he looked forward to the cheque in the post...! He has received nothing and when he rung Barclays last week they informed him that in fact he would be getting around £190...!
Does anyone know what he should do please?
many thanks in advance!0 -
Thanks for your help:T
Yes ppi is present...................and is worded on the copy statments as: payment protection plan from 2005....then however in oct 2008
it suddenly changes to OPTIONAL payment protection plan ???????
also what can I reasonably expect from my SAR everything they have on me or just the copy statements for the last 6yrs as they have sent?
Give them a ring and ask what info you can expect in the SAR,do not ask for statements on the phone! they will charge you for each one, give them a ring and let me know how you get on.0 -

Have you already claimed on the insurance?
Until January 2010 it had been generally assumed you couldn't make a mis-selling complaint if you'd already made a successful insurance claim. Yet proposals from the regulator now mean more people could be entitled to compensation.
Anyone who has claimed on a PPI policy can still submit a mis-selling complaint, using the timeframes above, though the chances of success are unclear. However, even if you're not successful, you may be able to cancel your insurance.0
