Thankyou to cappo, beamerguy and amersall for their help. Have contacted my bank to post me relevant statements with the loan account details on - great idea amersall!
Also have a claim in with HSBC, who tell me that there is a 12 week lead time, is that correct?0 -
Wow, it really does matter who you speak to at the Financial Ombudsman. Yesterday I was told by them that I didn't really have a leg to stand on with Santander, but a bit more digging today (getting Santander to send me some old statements with the Loan Account number on to let me quote it) and another call to the Ombudsman has yielded the following:
1. Santander will send me the statements - which implies that it could easily have bothered itself to find the loan account number. Perhaps I should have told them I was still a customer of theirs but that is fairly irrelevant I feel.
2. Today's call to the Ombudsman has lead to the Ombudsman sending a letter to Santander asking them if they have finished dealing with the complaint, and give me the opportunity to refer the complaint to the Ombudsman. They (Santander) will be requested to write to me and either finish or progress the complaint. By then I will have all of the info (loan account number) anyway, but equally, the Ombudsman may well uphold the complaint anyway.
Conclusion - lots of opportunity to give in (like with the bank charge reclaim), but don't!0 -
Hi,
Just thought I'd say that I have had my ppi back for a loan (that is still ongoing, but now restructured).
Anyway I have got back just over £2000, plus I will still qualify for my payment reward in a few months time.....
Thank you Martin and the gang!0 -
A little while ago, I got stung for a couple of hundred pounds by the Alliance and Leicester for not paying money into the account (I did it as part of a cashback thing and it backfired). THey offered me about £50 as a 'good will' gesture, but now I'm wondering if I could take it further?
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks0 -

Sounds like the old days of bank charges. Demand a full breakdown of charges and if they cannot / will not provide you with this, demand your money back0
