PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

Hi Cappo its hsbc, credit card, goes back 16 years but they say they only hold records for 6 years - despite being able to give me a figure relating to a successful ppi sickness claim in 1997. (someone did say that the details from that might have been kept tho.)
Just not sure what to do.....if i knew for sure that a SAR would kick up the CC info for the previous years, I'd go for it for sure.
Hi kima i'm getting exactly the same from HSBC, they offered me 6 years redress also when i had my card for 10 years, i have sarred them myself to try to get the info but are still waiting for it, i cannot say whether the sar will show the actual info you want but if you had a card for 16 years i personally think it would be worth the tenner but thats only my opinion.:)0 -

Hi kima09, I don't think you are going to rest until you have done a SARno one can tell what it will throw up and it only costs £10 but they then have 40 days to supply the information, if you are prepared to wait that long great, do it and put your mind at rest
I am only guessing that the 1997 claim may have rolled forward, I don't know for certain. Balls in your court, good luck

KIMA, If you have already had a successful claim against the policy for sickness, there is no reason for them to pay you back. This forum is all about claims that have been declined or false selling. You cannot claim that as you have had a successful ppi sickness claim in 1997.0 -

Hi beamerguy, they have already agreed to uphold but kima is wondering if they hold more information than they are letting on as they state a successful claim from 1997, they are starting the calculations from 2005. You have a point regarding the successful claim in 1997 meaning they shouldn't have upheld in the first place!!!Successes

I claimed the miss-sell as it wasn't an optional PPI, & when I wanted to cancel it they said that if I did, the full balance would become immediately payable and that they would also cancel my card. So I still had to keep it even tho it didn't cover my changed circumstances. Guess that's why they upheld it?

Beamerguy, have a look at my post from yesterday, the copy of the letter they sent is on that post, they've said if I have any other statements they will consider those too.0

Hi kima, in light of the fact you had a successful claim on the insurance back in 1997 (something the bank has told you) they could have turned down your complaint quite easily as you obviously qualified for it and needed it back then. I wouldn't push this, accept what they have offered youSuccesses
