    Hi,
I sent a form in to British Credit Trust (BCT) in september for missell of PPI. I recieved a final response 10 days ago saying they were not upholding my claim giving a list of reasons why. I sent a letter back challenging the reasons they gave me. I said that if i did not recieve a satisfactory response within 7 working days that i would go to the FOS. Today (exactly 7 working days later) i got a letter of BCT saying that they understand that i am not happy with the final response i recieved and that they will investigate my claim and that they aim to get back to me within 4 weeks.
is this just a stalling tactic or does anyone think that they may be going to change their mind and uphold my claim.

They could uphold this, depending on the reasons you gave in your second letter, fingers crossed.

Is anyone else in the same position as me, I accepted an RBS/NatWest offer via the FOS without figures but they stated that it would be redressed in line with their guidance. This was for a CC. I had money paid into my CC at the beginning of Nov but have not received any correspondence on the matter from NatWest/RBS no letter with an amount or breakdown of their calculations. I know someone suggested ringing but with the horror stories of waiting times I dont know if its worth it. Anyone else had this happen to them.
Give them a ring and ask,you wont know how this was worked out and if it is correct if you dont ask them.
You need to know this info and where your claim is at the moment. What is the worse they can say? :D
  • hi .. first time post .. i,m looking for a bit of advice .. just got a letter of barclaycard knocking me back on my ppi claim .
this was from a credit card i took out in 1995 that is still live today (the reason i claimed is they sent me a letter ending the ppi and included a phone number to make a claim ) .. letter basicly says i wasent missold ( i was ) and goes on to say the following

" this communication should be viewed as our final response in relation to this matter , and i have to inform you that as the date of this sale was before barclays became signatories to the general insurance standards council code of practice ( on the 21 november 2001 ) : i regret that your complaint is not eligible for referral to the FOS "

my question is , does this mean theres nothing else i can do about this claim ?
and secondly , is this the stance all banks will take , regardless of wether you were missold or not ?.. thanks
  • Good afternoon all.

I was wondering if there was anyone who could provide me with some help in the caclulations of redress.

I have spoken to FOS today who have confirmed thet Tesco Personal Finance have confirmed to them that they acknowledge that i was miss-sold a PPI back in 2004 that was attached to my personal Loan,

    Amount of Loan £25,000
    PPI £5,350
    Period 36 months.

The loan was paid off after 16 months, according to my credit file, and was wondering how will they calculate the redress on this.

    Any assistance would be appricieated.
    Current debt:
    Barclay Card - £4900, Creation Card - £7000, American Express - £2400, Nation Wide Card - £3600, Black Hourse Loan - £10500, Car Finance - £5k.

Hi, all is not lost, do you have the PPI policy ? Would the policy have suited your requirements in a claim
  • Hi - I'm new to the forum and would welcome some advice on reclaiming PPI.

I have successfully re-claimed from Egg in the past which was relatively easy but this was helped by the fact that I had all the details of the credit agreement. However I have since attempted to reclaim for my son in law who has taken out quite a number of loans over the last few years, but unfortunately does not have any information relating to these and as such is unsure whether there was any PPI taken out at the time. After following the PPI reclaiming guide I've got a copy of his credit history and sent the initial template letter requesting a copy of the agreements. All of the loans have now been settled but were still active within the last 6 years, but many of the responses received to date are quoting the fact that Section 78 of the Consumer Credit Act only applies during the lifetime of the agreement and as the accounts are now closed there is no longer a regulated agreement in place and are therefore refusing to provide any details. As I am uncertain whether there was any PPI on any of the accounts should I challenge this or give up without a fight?

Not sure if my original post has been lost in the many others that have been made since last night but as a newbie to the forum I was hoping that some of the more experienced amongst you could offer me some advice on my question above (fingers crossed).
  • Hi,
Can anyone tell me if there are any guidelines regarding the amount of time banks are supposed to take issuing calculations/cheques. I have been waiting 8 weeks now.
I have phoned several times and keep getting told it is at the calculations dept.
    Gettin p***** off now!
Does anyone have email address or phone number for me to complain to?
    Thanks

Hi again kima it's a lottery at the moment.

Also, I've found some statements that do go back before the date they started their calculations ('05) that I could send them - is it worth me doing that, has anyone else done this, how would they then calculate a new figure & how long would it take? and if I sent a SAR would they have the records of all my previous statements lurking somewhere in the bowels of their offices?

Just received the following e-mail after I had sent a complaint on the 17th November to Mr Chan........

Thank you for your email dated 17 November 2011. I am writing to confirm receipt of your complaint on behalf of Mr David Chan. I am unable to communicate via email any confidential, transactional or personal information as it is unsecure.

We are currently experiencing some difficulties with regards to finalising payments to customers who have received a letter from us and then subsequently returned the acknowledgement forms. This is regrettable and we are very sorry. We are working very hard to process these payments as fast as we can, having increased the number of people working on this particular team. We hope to process your payment within the next few days.

    Yours sincerely

    Gordon Williams

Just replied back and thanked Mr Williams (good manners cost nothing) and will now wait with anticipation!!!!!
