Dear Sir/Madam

Hi "dizzy di"
Is this the letter to be used to ask for a full breakdown of your whole account? Im starting a claim for the other half, it ended 2 years ago and he has NO paperwork other than the reference number. is it worth asking for the full account (£10 letter) or the credit agreement letter (£1)?
thanks in advance

Hi all, I had a quick read through this thread but it's pretty hefty so apologies if this has already been answered!
I decided to claim my ppi back through the company iSmart. Back in early February they started to deal with it and request info from my bank RBS, but then they said that due to the ppi court case RBS were refusing to handle ppi claims. In August I finally got word from iSmart that RBS were ready to start dealing with my case, but RBS were refusing to cooperate and iSmart were going to refer my claim to the FOS. In early September I recieved another letter from iSmart requesting that I send them a second original letter of authority to give to RBS, so that was sent. Later that same month I finally recieved a letter from RBS themselves saying that they were looking into my claim and cancelling my ppi as I was obviously unhappy with it; they also sent a page detailing their complaints procedure. The next day an email arrived from iSmart telling me that they had referred my claim to the FOS, and when I told them about the letter I had recieved from RBS they knew nothing about it. It's now past the 8 weeks mark of the complaints procedure and I haven't heard anything back from RBS yet, and I gather the FOS can take some time to come to a decision.
Anyway, the long and short of it is that it was a mistake to use iSmart. They started dealing with my claim in February and it is now November and still no results of any kind, not even a rejection.
Can I tell iSmart that I don't want them to handle my claim anymore? I really can't see the point in paying them 25% of anything I get (if ever!)
Sorry ayu it would'nt work as you would have signed a pay or play contract with them which means that if you then decided not to use there services anymore you would still have to pay them or you would obviously pay them if you recovered ppi, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but unfortunately they have you i'm afraid, all the best, steve0 -
Good morning Cappo I have over the past six months been posting various comments about getting my ppi back from the RBS and how long it has taken, anyway I rang up the helpline as I normally do each week and a very nice man told me the calculations have been done but not sent up yet so you can expect to wait at least two weeks for the cheque, anyway I felt it had moved on so I had two weeks of no stress knowing the cheque wasnt going to arrive - guess what Cappo my hubby is busy painting the bathroom, and the postman drops the post through the door - I didnt even bother getting up the hubby picked it up on the way to get more paint and I cant believe this my cheque has arrived from the RBS for over £7000 it has said tax from the interest payment has already been deduced as I am still working and a tax payer I have no objection to that.

Actually my aunty just got £4000 back but paid a company to do it, even though she filled the forms out herself. I didn't fancy paying someone to do something I could try doing myself... It does get a bit obsessive. I work in a shop and keep asking the regulars if they have had PPI , lol. Fingers crossed I'm lucky with clydesdale then. The PPI is still running on the visa will that affect my claim at all? How long can these cases take, worst case scenario?
Hi karma most are running at between 8 and 16 weeks although there are delays, worst case scenario is time wise the fos whch is a year+ at the moment if rejected, good luck.0 -
HIYA, sorry if somehow we missed your post, not intentional
It is odd that whilst the claims company contacted the bank, it is odd that the bank contacts you direct. Firstly, are you happy with the offer, do you think it is correct ?
50% by the claims company is very high, who are they ?
Did you ever contact the bank about this yourself ?
Have the claims company been in contact with you ?
Are the claims company still operating as many have had their licence taken away by the FSA ?
I'm with you beamer the charges should be no higher than 30% absolute tops.0 -

So many questions so few answers! Thank you for your reply. It seems, in a move entirely unlike me, I have got rid of every single piece of correspondence the company have sent me. I would have only done this if every bit looked like junk though...
Anyway.
1. I am happy with the offer, I never really expected to see the money again so anything's a bonus.
2. I never contacted the bank directly.
3. The only time the company have been in contact is to ask if my bank has contacted me directly. Each time that I received a letter or text regarding this it was N/A as I hadn't received anything.
I have just found one email from the company from when I first contacted them, they are 'investor compensation'.
The 50% fee was never sent in writing as far as I remember, only mentioned over the phone. Lloyds say that if I don't get in contact with them they will consider the matter closed and simply pay me the money. If they do that and the company still don't get in contact with me, is that wrong..?! (morally I mean...)0 -
I posted this as part of my first post on here just a page back.....Obviously, over a thousand pages on this thread makes hard reading, so my apologies if this question has been covered, but here goes:
If, like me, you have been chopping and changing credit-cards/mortgages etc every 2 years or so, and have little or no paper record of what card/mortgage you had over which time period, how on earth do you start to even thinking about claiming PPI back?
I still hold an independant PPI for sickness/accident/unemployment which I've had for several years now (was recommended by my then financial advisor), and have succesfully claimed on that policy in the past, following a long-term sickness (nore on that in a minute).
I have nearly always taken out payment protection with cards/loans etc, mainly because the provider suggested it was best, but as originally stated, there have been so many changes I simply can't remember what I've had.
Help!!
Sorry to bump it already, but I think the second part of that post took more interest!!!!!
Seriously though.............if like me, you've had numerous cards/loans etc over the years, but didn't retain any paperwork once cleared or transferred, where do you start?
I know I've had ppi with just about every financial product I've ever had, but have always been employed, with sick pay etc.....
Sorry if I've missed the obvious.........it's all a bit heavy to trawl through.:(0 -
