PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

Ty for your advice about sending emails to my MP and CEO of the Halifax. I did and the next day I got a call from the Halifax with a straight through number if I need updates but they also said that there is no time as they cannot keep to the 56 day limit because of the volume of complaints, so I will give them a few days and then ring them up again. My MP emailed me back and wanted more info which I gave him and he said he will try and find something out for me. They both said it was a long time to wait for an update.0

I once used the insurance on the MBNA card, will this invalidate the claim?
In some instances the ppi paid out in a claim may be more than the actual ppi you claimed mis sell for,if this is the case you will get nothing.0 -

Hi Patrick, regarding MBNA, you may well have a problem as you have claimed on the insurance, its would be like filling your car with petrol and denying it later. Regardless, it depends what else the policy says and if it would all be applicable to you in its entirety, if not, you may have a basis for a claim
RE BARCLAYS, go ahead and claim.
They cannot make you make pay the balance if you win PPI so dont worry about that
When I won my claim against Lloyds for mis-sold credit card PPI they used some of the money to pay off my credit card balance before I got the rest.
I had £4,600 owing on a £6,000 limit. They then reduced the limit from £6,000 to £1,000 stating that it was to 'help me out as I was obviously in financial difficulty.
They are quite within their rights to do this so be aware.0 -

Yes of course if you owe them money already they can do that0 -
I have now received a reply from Capital One to my e-mail I sent to the CEO. It is no different really from before although there are lots of appologies regarding different mistakes they have made since I made my complaint. They have again missed the point completely that I have never had any paperwork to tell me what the PPI covered nor have I recieved a policy for it. The letter actually stated that "the tick on the application form appears to be consistant with the others" Seriously!!!!!! I didn't realize they were handwriting experts there. Can they really reject a claim based on a tick in a box which I am disputing I even did.0

I find it amazing that even the government has lost touch with what is going on ? 20 Years ago when media presence was a lot lower than today, few people had internet access, these scam merchants could easily get away with this. They don't seem to realise, that the moment they open their mouth, its on the news, its on the internet available for the whole country to see.
This is where the banks went wrong, they never understood the power of the internet and that is why they are on the brink of disaster, they lived on their little world somewhere in "cloud 9" landNOW THEY ARE PAYING THE PRICE0 -

Was getting a bit worried about the lack of posts about them on the forum, is there a reason for that, or am I missing all the posts about them? So it will also contain all the visa information on the SAR also? And how long do I wait before my next move? The worrying thing is I'm becoming a bit too obsessed, when I'm not working my times spent reading this forum.
Thanyou to cappo also for your help, I'm loving your work guys, you do a great job, helping people stand up for themselves and claim.
Right bedtime as iv had to write this post out twice, I deleted the first draft. Although when I post it, it will probably come up twice on the screen, lol. Thankyou again,

If you're completing a SAR to them they have 40 days to comply, when I done this with RBS, information came in from different sources, one from credit card centre, one from loans and another from accounts, with copies of statements that I had requested. If they fail to comply with the 40 days you can complain to the Information Commissioners Office.
Also if you know you had ppi and have your account numbers and reasons for mis-sale you can do file your complaint and wait for the finer details, all you need for your complaint is as said, account numbers, rough dates and your reason's.
Don't worry too much about becoming obssessed, most of us on here have done the same, my work colleagues, wife, family are all sick to death of listening to me harping on about ppi, but to be honest I don't really care, my wife has had several of the wins on my signature to do with as she pleases(well almost) the bank of scotland cc win and tmpp win are sitting burning a hole in her bank account as we speak, earlier she practically redesigned the whole downstairs of the house, with new flooring, corner suite, decorating the walls new units etc etc.
It's good to keep up with each days updates but you can go for days with nothing much going on, especially at the weekends, i've seen sometimes two or three of us holding the conversation.
I've also been quite boring but it helped and I read the FSA guidance on the ppi saga, and several times over months, and I used to post sections that would help people when putting in their complaint or even appealing a rejected complaint as the lender didn't seem to pay much respect to the guidance.
My advice keep your finger on the pulse to know whats going on but make time for other things too, and if anyone complains, just say that you'll remember that when you get your money and they won't be included in the celebrations!!:DThanks to all the competition posters.0 -
Hi guys,
I received a letter from Barclaycard with regards to my Sky Card PPI.
I have been offered £127, which to me doesn't sound nearly enough!
They have stated the PPI is for the period 2005 - 2006 and that the PPI was cancelled in 2009.
This card actually ended up going to a debt collection company and was fully paid off in 2009, but they are saying the £127 will go to the debt company?!
How can they do this when it has already been settled?
I have tried to call but obviously no reply.
I am going to contest the amount, as I am sure the PPI was often £10 or more a month, so to me £127 is no where near correct.
Anyone else had this?
I had an offer for £8 from Capital one yesterday so this a slight improvement, but still! ha ha0
