Now I'm confused.

Just had my statement from Halifax about my CC. I am now £1000 in CREDIT! I phoned them and they aid "oh sorry about that, we have miss keyed the amount for your PPI by £1000...."

Now its their mistake, should I demand every penny back... or let them have it back?

Help me....

THEY WILL TAKE IT BACK ANYWAY

• Thanks very much for your reply - the Barclays business loan insurance was for disability, critical illness and life benefit. To get this Barclays loan of £5000 the director thought he had to buy the insurance (along with a £300 Clearly Accounts Package which we have never used) and in the loan confirmation letter it lists a single premium for life, accident and sickness insurance of £363.98 - 3 yr loan repaid Sept 2006. Do we go first to our business banking manager or straight to Barclays PPI dept?

Furthermore when he set up the Barclays bank account for the limited company in May 2002, he was talked into a Barclays Business Care insurance policy (so not really ppi?) - disability and life benefit policy and the company has been paying £30 a month from 2002 until a few months' ago when we cancelled it as no longer affordable. The policy schedule gives just his name without mentioning the company.

I think from what you say, we have a good chance re. the loan insurance but what about the Clearly Accounts package? and the earlier insurance. All this was arranged by our local business bank manager. Should we complain to him first? Not sure about our future chances of getting fair treatment if we upset him.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I'm no expert Lady but what you are describing doesn't sound like a PPI type insurance policy. Life/Critical Illness insurance is a valuable product and does protect your loved ones or any other Directors of the business in a case where you pass away or contract something horrible. Albeit not a product which a lending decision should be dependent upon.

It is also a hell of a lot better value than a PPI policy as the insurance company cannot claim you aren't dead, whereas they quite regularly refuse to pay out on PPI when someone claims they aren't fit to work.

I'm not saying you don't have a claim (especially if the premium has been frontloaded and you have been charged interest on the whole amount) or indeed told lies by the advisor but in terms of a PPI complaint I suspect you would be struggle.

Sorry if my last post got your hopes up.

However I can't stress enough, if you think that you were misled or the product was unsuitable to your needs definitely complain.

As mentioned in the Lloyds thread, I have finally recieved my Lloyds TSB Loan PPI refund. :j

I recieved my redress letter on the 15th of September, which should give renewed hope to those who also recieved theirs around that time. Might be worth checking your bank accounts. ;)

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Di, amersall, marksman, beamerguy, smitchy, cappo, MSE human calculator (can't remember username :o) and anyone else who I've unintentionally omitted for their help and support.

I'm just glad that this sorry saga is finally over for me. I hope everyone else receives what is theirs ASAP, especially those who bank with Lloyds TSB. ;)

Just keep on at them.

Personally regarding the PPI, I would claim in the normal way, putting your case as explained above.
Doubtful if will get down to the managers level, but dont worry about upsetting the manager, he is the one who gave you false information.

All branch managers have so far failed to see that you could take them to court for fraudulent activities, promise, the bank themselves will not defend his/her actions

Hello,

I have recently had success against Natwest (loan only, not credit card) and also sent a claim off to Capital One for a Credit Card which I had back in 2000.
I have received an offer letter for ... wait for it... £8
Yes £8

Upon further inspection of the letter I have noticed that the account number they have quoted relates to my current card I have with them, and not the old one (which was paid in full and closed back in 2000)

What are they like? Should I write back to them advising I think they are talking about the wrong account? I have only had this new card for 6 months and do have a form of PPI, but surely they aren't still mis-selling?

Any advise would be marvellous :)

Finally the end in near.
Was on internet banking earlier and noticed that the outstanding balance on my existing Halifax loan was reduced substantially only £14 remain. So called them up again even though I was only on the phone to them 2 days ago, to be told my letter was posted y.day. Anyway it turns out that the £1800 outstanding on my balance has been effectively cleared and I will receive a cheque shortly of just over 2 grand!!! It can take up to 30 days to be processed by I should have it by xmass!!
By the way I got my acceptance on 25th August and it was with the Halifax on 2nd September.

Hope this gives you some hope that there is a bit of movement going on!!
• i put in to reclaim my PPI from all my loans i had with Barclays. After many weeks i recieved a phone call in September advising that my claim will be upheld and that i was entitled to just over £2,000.
As i was currently still paying my loan they advised this would be paid off and any monies over the amount i would be owed. i was advised to continue paying my monthly payments and this would all be settled and paid back) ( im owed from July onwards!!!)
i rang Barclays middle of October for an update on this reclaim as i had not heard a thing! i was advised that Barclays have 40 working days to pay out from time of settlement figure.
This would of taken me to the 8th november, and guess what still no payment!!!!
There customer service is shocking , i was cut off a number of times and constantly put through to the wrong department! Im currently on Day 2 of waiting for someone to call me back!
The longer they are leaving this the more money they are owing me!!!

Any one else having these issues with Barclays or is it just me???
i have just managed to get through to Barclays without being cut off! They have advised me that they are running approx 10 working days over the 40 day limit. i have been advised that they will be paying out an extra 8% interest per day until the claim is paid!

so lets see how long this will take im currently on my 7th late working day!

Hello all, hope this is in the right place ( not great with forums or pc's ).
I am hoping to claim ppi for loans and CC for my partner. He's dyslexic and even worse than me on a pc, lol. He's had several loans from Yorkshire bank, he thinks about 7 or 8 from '98' onwards and has no paperwork. I wrote asking for terms and conditions using the template, but put his current account number on top of the letter, ( was that wrong?). Anyway got a letter back yesterday saying

We note the acc number you have quoted refers to a current account.
Section 78 of consumer cred act 1974 gives borrowers the right to obtain a copy "of the executed agreement (if any)". Overdrafts on a current account are exempt frm the need to comply with the documentation requirements of the act under a determination made under S74 of the act.
The overdraft facility is referred to in the terms of your current account plus conditions and is created when you draw down that facility. Accordingly we consider that there is no executed agreement to be provided under S78.
I trust that is satisfactory, however, should you have any further queries pls do not hesitate to contact us at the above address.

I don't understand the letter and am feeling a little but thick because of it !!! Can anyone help please??
Btw, you guys on here do a great job, it's only from reading posts on this forum that has given me the balls to do something about it.

I wrote the SAR out lastnight should this be my next move??

Ps. My partner also has had a visa with Yorkshire bank ( still running), he's had it 16 yrs with ppi, Would the SAR have details of this also if I put the account number on the top of the SAR when I send. Many thanks.

As cappo had said they like to play silly, and none more so than Yorkshire and Clydesdale Banks.
I would contact your branch as they will hold details of loans on the system, and you can get the loan account numbers and amounts etc from them, if you do online banking at all, you may find these on electronic statements or lists of direct debits, the DD's would have the loan number as the reference.
You can do a SAR and pay £10 and this will give you all the details they hold on you, they don't need to keep agreements once a loan is paid off, although they should for at least 6/7 years after it's finished for tax reason's but knowing the banks they'll have a way out of it.

If you're still having problems getting details after asking in at the branch, use these email addresses to try and get some help.

AQU.PPI@eu.nabgroup.com this is for the ppi customer services team, and this one is for the CEO david.thorburn@eu.nabgroup.com just say that your trying to find out details of loans that you once had and whether or not there was ppi etc.

We were lucky to have two loans repaid with Clydesdale Bank from 2002 and 2006, when we first complained a couple of years ago we were rejected and they also found all the loan paperwork and the initial leaflet that we completed, but after the high court case we re-raised a complaint and won.

Anything else just ask:D
Thanks to all the competition posters.
