Making a claim is essentially about whether the policy sold was suitable to the needs of the person it was sold to. If it protects you against sickness and you already have protection than it is not suitable similarly if you are a housewife you can't lose your job so employment cover is worthless.
If the policy was sold to a Limited Company there is a good chance it was unsuitable because a company can not get sick and won't be made redundant. Accident cover for an entity that is not subject to the usual trips and falls of a human is probably pretty useless too.
Also some people experienced misleading sales tactics such as an advisor suggesting the purchase of cover enhanced the likelihood of the loan being agreed.
My suggestion is that you look carefully at the policy and what cover it provided, if the cover does not suit the circumstances of your company ask the question of the firm that sold the cover.
If you don't ask you wont get.Money Saving IQ 142 - Does that mean I am tight?0 -
Hi, I've been a member of this site for about 4 years, i don't post very often but i am an avid reader of the forums, in particular the PPI thread. I took the plunge and sent off a questionairre to GE Money for a policy whichi believe we were missold as my husband and i were told it was compulsory in order to be accepted for the loan andwe both receive sickness benefits etc in our place of work. I receieved a letter to say that they were looking at our complaint and would respond by 23rd October, this came and went so i rang them and was advised that they has sent a letter stating they needed an extra 4 weeks. (The letter never arrived) I decided to ring them today for an update and was told that a final response letter had been sent out on 9th november (again we haven't received anything). I asked what a final repsonse letter was and what the content of the letter was but was told that they couldn't tell me and that they would send another letter. My question is
1. What is a final repsonse letter please?
2. Can i ring them back and ask to be told what is in the letter or do you think i will get the brush off?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.0 -

Hi rolo a final response letter basically is the banks final say on whether they feel you have a case or not and if your claim is rejected it should tell you about your right to go to an ombudsman within 6 months of there final response, as to point 2 you can ask them again, some will tell you some won't, good luck with this. steve0 -
Thanks Steve, I will post on here when i eventually find out what the letter says. I've got my fingers crossed as I genuinely believe it was missold as we wouldn't be able to claim against it, it was added as a lump sum at the beginning of the loan and it was £5,000!!!! against a loan of £18,000, we were also told we wouldn't be accepted for the loan without it.
Thanks again

Hi Fee doesn't sound as if you'll have any trouble, telling you, you needed it to secure the loan was a big no no and the fsa and the fos frown on these front loaded policies, i deffo think you'll have an uphold there.:T:T0 -

i put in to reclaim my PPI from all my loans i had with Barclays. After many weeks i recieved a phone call in September advising that my claim will be upheld and that i was entitled to just over £2,000.
As i was currently still paying my loan they advised this would be paid off and any monies over the amount i would be owed. i was advised to continue paying my monthly payments and this would all be settled and paid back) ( im owed from July onwards!!!)
i rang Barclays middle of October for an update on this reclaim as i had not heard a thing! i was advised that Barclays have 40 working days to pay out from time of settlement figure.
This would of taken me to the 8th november, and guess what still no payment!!!!
There customer service is shocking , i was cut off a number of times and constantly put through to the wrong department! Im currently on Day 2 of waiting for someone to call me back!
The longer they are leaving this the more money they are owing me!!!
Any one else having these issues with Barclays or is it just me??? :mad:0 -
