I've just had a reponse from HSBC and am getting almost £2000 back on a claim over loan ppi! (which does include a loss of intrest at 8%)
I simply said that by taking the loan out over the phone I did not feel that they explained all the beenfits properly and because of my age they exploited my lack of knowledge (i was 19 at the time).
They took a total of 10 weeks to respond from start to finish, have had to sign a letter to say I've accepted the payment and it will take another 4 weeks to hit my account.
Without all the encouragment on here I dont think I ever would have put in the claim-so if anyone is ever in any doubt about claiming-DO IT-just takes a letter!
Thanks guys! :j
Nice one, well done:cool::cool::cool::cool::T:T:T:):):):):beer::beer::beer::beer::j:j:j:money::money::money::money:0 -
Dear All
I'm back again. I posted on this forum in August about a possible claim against Abbey (now Santander)
Here's the link to my original post:_
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...5#post46191325
And thank you to Cappo for your reply back then.
So, this has been left on the back burner, but now I've decided I'm gonna do this before it's too late.....but I have another couple of questions.
The loan I had was not only in my maiden name but also at my parent's address (where I then lived)...how do I get around this?
I'm going to fill in the questionnaire and send it with a covering letter (is that what people do???)
I was thinking in the letter I could put all my previous details (and my parents still live there), as well as offering to go into a branch to provide proof that I am who I say I am (passport, marriage certificate, etc) but I can envisage "problems" shall we say. Any pointers would be a great help
thanks muchly
Hi clair my woman you have a better memory than me lol, don't worry just change your details and put all previous details on your fos forms after all people change there names and addresses when they get married. Should'nt be a problem.0 -
So Cappo, so I am clear....put my maiden name and parent's address on the questionnaire, but do a covering letter with my current details? Sorry if it seems a dim question, but between PPI and a tax man battle, brain freeze is a regular occurrence with me!0

That will do just fine clair just so theres a link between the addresses,:D you know what the banks are like, you have to make it easy for them.0 -
Firstly send Bob Diamond another email stating you are still waiting for his reply to your email.
The man from Egg is an idiot to say that and IT IS NOT TRUE.
This is fast becoming a way out for banks to buck pass it to the FOS creating even longer delays.
In your email to Diamond, head it COMPLAINT and go on to complain about Egg and the statement above.
Remember, nothing is finally closed until you are satisfied, the so called "final" is utter rubbish, some of these idiot banks think they are God ??
Actually, it seens that the first email I sent to the CEO of Barclays was forwarded to Egg
who in turn replied that they still think I have no case there, and if I want to still push with the claim, then I should see the FOS. Hmmm 0 -

Hi, as all of us would advise on here, hit the CEO again, of course you have A case so do not give up, often it takes a few emails to wake up the dead so KEEP GOING0 -
Hi Guys,
So I have written to Natwest about my PPI CREDIT CARD claim (already had success with Loan PPI).
Four weeks later, and I get my original form back with a covering letter saying I need to provide the account number.
It took four weeks for them to tell me this, they also said they have copied nothing and the claim is not logged, and to resubmit once I have the details.
I don't have these, and the card was early 2000 - what shall I do?

Hello di3004
Taking your advice to see if anyone else has had 2 sets of settlement figures sent to them.
I recently received my figures for a chain of loans and it came to £3798, than 2days later a second sent of figures came in the post for the same loans that totaled £4538
Each agreement has been calculated separately by the following method.
This example is from the first set of offers for the first loan account
Total refund or PPI Premium and associated interest paid to date = £2156.48
Statutory and Stay Interest Values
Gross interest at statutory rate added to each overpayment from the date of payment to date plus additional interest for delay from when we informed you the complaint was put on hold : = £344.21
Less Tax (20%) = £68.84
Net Interest = £275.37
Total Offer £2156.48 + £275.37 = £2431.85
This example from the second set of offers for the same first loan account
Total refund or PPI Premium and associated interest paid to date = £1374.10
Statutory and Stay Interest Values
Gross interest at statutory rate added to each overpayment from the date of payment to date plus additional interest for delay from when we informed you the complaint was put on hold : = £400.97
Less Tax (20%) = £80.19
Net Interest = £320.78
Total Offer £1374.10 + £320.78 = £1694.88
As you can see it was reduced, but some of the others were increased, so overall they all came to a bigger figure on the second set of offers. But no where is it stated they are revised in any way. So my question is does this put me in a position where I can pick the best offer for each loan from the 2 sets of figures, if so this will potentially net me £5281. Their figures for the same loan seem to be so far out its unbelievable.
Any advice gratefully received.0 -

Hi keewee keep on hitting and hassling them i've had this squit like a lot of people on here, it's all designed to get you to give up, this is what the banks tack is now they've lost the judicial review but there hoping the longer they piddle people about the more people will lose heart, don't give them the satisfaction, don't play there game, they will have to pay up in the end, if your credit card has been misold it's money they have to pay back whether they like it or not.0 -
