Yes all the details were filled in by computer. I just had to read it and sign in the given 15 minutes!!

My Barclays statements shows just the one amount paid monthly to BOS. Does that make a difference to my claim?

Just a few more things that you can throw at them, I have a virtually identical agreement and I believe they did everything they could to disguise the fact that you were paying PPI. And giving you only 15 minutes to sign and not able to ask questions is pressurisation in my opinion. No information with regard to the PPI was supplied with the credit agreement when you signed, that was posted out separately at a later date and still no figures mentioned when that arrived, just a policy booklet!!!
    Successes
    Sainsbury's/BOS £6,400 Paid :)
    MBNA £3,600 Paid :)

    Hi Colin

I found when I requested data from a SAR request, I did not receive everything from the old loan accounts from the mid 90's.
But found they did hold data in the local branch, so if you've not done so yet, call in to your local branch and ask them to go back as far as they can go and check microfiche files, they may still have some details.
So if your passing by a branch, call in, give it a shot, good luck.

I too took your advice Di and did a SAR for yorkshire bank and both my loans from 1996 and 1998 were on there so worth a try. I had to search all the paperwork but in small writing at the top i found them both. Good luck

Hi Lisa, you are doing a good job.

When the banks allocated xxx£million to cover claims, what they did not forsee, is the knock on effect of the power of the people.

We have already seen the lowlife of the financial world like Wellcome Finance go bust, its probably the turn of the "middlelife" finance cowboys to go bust .. which they will

No problems as the government will cover you ?

The BIG BOYS are suffering right now and sooner or later, one of them will bite the dust.
It's a bit like pyramid selling whereby there is not enough people on this planet to make it work for everyone.
With the banks, the refunds will get higher and higher and there is not enough people on this planet to finance this

    Good morning,

Can anyone advise me on this please?

I have received a rejection letter from MBNA relating to a live Credit card account, first taken up in November 2006.

They say that I ticked the ' I wish to purchase payment protection cover' box when applying on-line.

A second tick box required me to confirm that 'I understand that I am purchasing the........'

further on, it appears to have provided a tick box to authenticate my signature relating to this area of the appilcation.

They enclosed a document that appears to be a record of my application???

I may have done, but cannot remember for sure.

At the time I had been working for working for a PLC with good absence terms since early 2001.

The mentioned document does not detail entries relative to my employment, I guess they have only copied the area's relative to me ticking PPI.

My job was made redundant in April 2009, since then I have been self-employed.

Additionally, I have cerebral palsy from birth and whilst not degenerative, limits my mobility and will do for life. If asked, I'm sure I would have given them an account of my circumstance.

    What should I do?

MBNA's letter suggests that they have exhausted their search, and provide details for me to discuss cancellation of PPI on this account.

I asked recently for copy of my T&C of my Mortgage and Critical Illness insurance (am reviewing/comparing/thinking about changing and incorporating greater life insurance now I have a family). I've been paying this insurance for 12 years, since buying my house, but when discussing with other broker, they expressed that they thought it was expensive.

Along came my overview and, included within the 'valuable benefits included with this policy', it says 'Premium Protection - pays the premium when either lives assured are unable to work due to accident or illness after the deferred period of 3 months' - this struck the alarm bells ringing as it sounded like PPI (which I've never knowingly agreed to), but could it be just a benefit (that I'm not paying additional for?).

Naturally, I can ring and ask them but if they say I'm paying for it, am I obliged at that time to say that I do not wish to and, if so, will they then close my account (am not yet ready with alternative)?

    Thanks :D

Hi, Firstly, online form filling can be flawed and it is not unknown for the box to be un ticked on the form you are viewing but the script running the form IN THE BACKGROUND which is called CGI, to send the information as if you have ticked it.

Let us assume you did NOT tick the box, please read this article regarding MBNA
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1217173/Judge-quashes-womans-8-000-credit-card-debt-landmark-ruling-mis-selling-payment-protection-insurance.html

If you did tick the box without realising it, were you presented with a copy of the PPI policy for you to read prior to confirming. I can tell you that MBNA PPI's are are handled by St Andrews, a company within Lloyds Banking Group and you would not have been covered having cerebral palsy.

At any time, were you asked about any conditions, did anyone contact you to ensure you were fit for the policy and point out the exclusions of the policy.
Did you receive a copy of the policy ?

Were you given the statutory cool off period which allows you to change your mind within 30 days ?

If not, you were mis-sold the PPI and you are entitled to a full refund plus 8% interest

If you do not have a copy of the PPI insurance, maybe you do not as MBNA failed many times to send customers copies, you only got a copy when you claimed, then PM me with your email address and I will send the policy of St Andrews by email

Indeed if anyone wants a copy of the MBNA policy issued by St. Andrews. The policy is very restrictive and the vast amount of people would not have been covered in the event of a claim. PM ME

    Hi All

    Congrats to all recent winners.

Please could someone confirm if this is correct:

Welcome have upheld 3 mis sale of PPI on my dads loans, loans that have been settled already. Welcome now want to take the refund of this and pay it off a loan that is current and has no PPI.

My understanding was that if the loan was settled and the current loan is NOT in arrears then in theory that money is now my dads. Because it was his money to start with. I have told them that it's not up to them to decided where the money goes, as they mis-sold in the first place.

    Any input would be appreciated.

    Thanks :)
