The problem I have is that I don't have the PPI policy any more :(

OK, well contact them and request a copy of the PPI, it is important to know if it covers you

One of the accounts that I thought I had PPI on I manage to find some details on this myself - I still have a savings account with First Direct and on a statement from 5 years ago when I settled the loan early (by taking out another loan I admit) I see "Loan protection refund" (i'm assuming this is the same as PPI).
I think the loan was around £6000 (perhaps more) and the 'refund' I got back then which I presume was because I settled early was £176 - do you think I can proceed and claim all of the payment protection back?
All I have as evidence that I had been paying this is this one statement which also has my account details on.

    Can anyone offer any advice?

    Thanks

    Hi there

Many have given it a go with minimum paperwork, just having the account number helps.

    Give it a go.

Above, complete the above questionnaire, send to the ones who sold you the account, head office or complaints dept, remember to keep a copy.

    Good luck.;)

PS Does anyone have the address for Beneficial Finance/HFC Bank Plc and Burton Storecard/Santander so that I can send my SAR requests?
I can't seem to find anything obvious on the net.
    Thanks

    Hi

It looks like complaints are dealt with by HFC now, like mine was Endeavour Personal Finance (EPF) and like Beneficial linked to HFC.

    http://www.beneficialfinance.co.uk/

If you click on the above link, it should take you into the HFC websbite, more details of this below.

    HFC Bank Limited,
    PO Box 5207,
    Coventry,
    CV3 9FB

    Details of how to complain.

    http://www.hfcbank.co.uk/html/payment_insurance.html

I assume you can request for a SAR at the above address, they will forward to their relevant data dept, but post by recorded delivery.

Santander deal with the store card complaints.

When you complaint, make them aware the complaint is about Burtons store card.

Hope this info helps, good luck.:)

Beamerguy - sorry to ask, but what should I be looking for? Covers me in what respect?
  • Hi guys
New to the forum, recently had some success reclaiming ppi from natwest although still waiting for the actual payout, like a lot of members on here recieved there standard need an extra 28days letter last week.
my main reason for posting though is that i relised my natwest loan was to consolidate a lot of credit card debts i racked up back in the 90s, from companies including capital one, mbna and tesco most of the cards had significant balances and were taken out around 1990 -1995,although they were paid off i cant remember ever closing the accounts,so my question is would they be worth chasing up for a ppi refund or have i missed the boat so to speak.

    Hi and welcome

    Do give it a go.

Many have been successful in making reclaims even from the mid 90's, I am one of those.

If you don't try you will never know.:D;)

It makes no difference if accounts closed or still active.
If you require any help, just yell, oh and Congratulations on your recent success.
Hope you receive your payout real soon, fingers crossed.;)

The reason the word mis-sold is used is because the salesperson said it would cover things like unemployment, self employed etc, when it cam to a claim, they were not covered, so the policy will outline what would be covered for you, if you think the policy would not have covered you, then you have a right to claim mis-sell
