I think claims are definitley slowing up a bit, hearing everywhere about barclays credit card rejections now, the fsa needs to start getting involved and smacking some bankers botties me thinks.
  • i have just heard been rejected by barclaycard today, they said i ticked the box so as far as they are concerned it was ticked by me and a postal application it was not sold to me. My problem is i believed i had to have ppi to get the card, also it was a barclaycard sense card with a £300 limit why would i want or need ppi. i was a director of a company with 6 months full sickness pay and 6 months half pay , any suggestions where i go now?
i believe they are rejecting everyone now if you dont like it go to fos

    Hi Anne

Have you tried emailing the CEO of the business as well?

I have been suggesting local MP's to write on your behalf as well to many in the same situation, don't know if it will help, but maybe worth a try if not getting anywhere with them, good luck. x;)
Hi there , Maybe I will email the CEO tomorrow ,it won't do any harm . I've also found another phone no so will try it tomorrow also . Thanks . Anne .
  • Hi All,
Congratulations to all those who have had successes - Well done - it's so great to read the good news stories :)

I've had some confusion with Barclays over last few days...

Over the course of 4 days, I have had 4 different letters acknowledging receipt of my complaint and between them I've had 6 reference numbers...for 5 complaints...and 3 blank FOS questionnaires that I've been asked to complete (even though I have already submitted 5 of them).

I was completely confused, so I called Barclays this morning to clarify things.
The operator was equally as confused - but in fairness to him he dug through the system and identified 7 (!!??!!) active ref numbers and provided the start dates and Policy Nos for each, so I could relate them back to my info. They were the 5 complaints I had submitted and references for 2 further loans that I had not complained about. When I checked through my records it was one I thought was too old - 1999 - and one that I arranged online so could not in all honesty claim was miss-selling - although it was an upfront, single premium. I was advised y the operator to resubmit the questionnaires as requested, as he said it would be quicker and would not affect the deadline date they had already given me, which I have done today (thank God I saved them electronically) and sent special delivery.

Why do I think that this won't be the end of the confusing letters - so much for trying to just leave them to it!

    Cheers

i had a very old barclay card which i know i had ppi as my dad told me to bin it 6mths down the line, i phoned them up and was told i never had one! so i SAR'd them and they returned everything (£10 cheque) saying they have no record of me. Ive only ever had one credit card and it was that one haha! but it was such a small amount ive let them off the hook as i have no paperwork etc. so dont let them get away with it, with you! :D

    Hi

You could now complain to the FOS and going by other posts, it does seem they are rejecting a lot of complaints lately, with the same reasons as well.

What you could do is give them 14 days, ask them to reconsider your complaint, tell them you don't feel they have investigated your complaint properly, and going by what you have heard they seem to be rejecting others complaints as well for the same reasons, which is the reason you do not believe yours have been even looked into thorougly.
Tell them you will take further action if you hear nothing by 14 days, or if they do not take into account your reasons for being mis sold.

Its up to you of course, either write and ask them to reconsider by 14 days, if you've any further info to give as well, I would so so, and if you hear nothing by say the 14 days as from when they receive your letter, then complain to the FOS.

    Keep at them, good luck.

At least I'm not the only one that's been confused by Barclays way of dealing with complaints. I too have had numerous duplicate letters/questionnaires all giving different reference numbers, at the last count I have been given 6 different references numbers for one actual claim that I have submitted.
Not only have I had numerous reference numbers but I've had correspondence concerning MY claim sent out in my daughters name, their excuse for this mistake was "well she has the same initial & surname as you and is living at the same address". I've complained 4 times over the phone about them sending out letters concerning my claim to my daughter & everytime I get an apology and the assurance it won't happen again, but it does. I'm seriously considering emailing the CEO of Barclays to complain as surely this goes against the data protection act, I've now lost any confidence I had in Barclays concerning the security of the information held concerning my account, if they can't spot the difference between mine & my daughters account (who btw has never had a loan from Barclays for her to put a PPI claim in) we do after all have totally different account numbers, my initial is J whilst hers is J A.:(
