I tried the same and no response. I also cannot get an answer on the phone number 02380 723838 (on my calculation letter). It's been a week since they should have received the letter - I'm so impatient!0 -
Finally got through! They got my letter yesterday (very slow post!) so I should get a refund into my account by the 21st.

Hi,
Looking for a bit of advice, got a rejection letter for PPI, worth around £3500. My husband applied over phone and is adamant that he was advised to take PPI cover to secure loan application (was a large sum of money which we needed at time) and he took the bronze option which was life insurance (cheapest option)
We were already well covered, so we think we were mis-sold PPI.
But they have rejected on the following -- Your loan application was accepted at .....2006... You were contacted and advised of this the same day. After you had been advised the loan had been approved our advisor discussed our optional insurance products with you. In view of this it does not follow that you were advised the purchase of PPI was a condition of the loan being agreed.
- Our advisors follow strict sales scripts during each call. I have reviewed the sales script which was in place at the time your loan was arranged and confirm you were advised the PPI was optional.
- The credit agreement contained two boxes to sign; the first was to accept the terms of the principle loan and the seond was to accept PPI. By signing the seperate insurance box you confirmed you opted to purchase PPI.
Is there anyway in which we can challenge this, can we send a SAR, to see if they have a transcript of conversation?
Is there anyway we can challenge what is being said about sales script and how it was conveyed?
We obviously can't contest 3rd part and are not. However we are contesting the way it was sold!
Are we kidding ourselves on that we can contest this?
Thanks
Hi,
Can I please have more help!
Got data back from SAR, used very in depth template from here.
Very disappointed, little in it, was expecting more as they had been very precise with exactly what time loan was offered etc, no evidence of this in SAR though- a statement of funds, agreement and system notes.
There is no copy/transcript of phoncalls between my husband and sales advisor - so it is their word against ours!
System notes show that my husband was asked about employment, sickness benefits and whether he had life insurance to which he answered yes to all of them and expanded that he had 6 months full/6 months half!
But when you look at the demands and needs statement (in the smallest writing ever) it states what cover do you have in place to protect yourself and this agreement - NONE and it adds that it is single premium policy. We have been lax in not checking and taking everything that was said at face value.
Also found on the system notes that they checked up on me -
It basically says that payslip received from Mrs confirms NHS employment. Payslip shows mat leave. Mat pay from employer and SMP total her basic pay. Was concerned she had not gone back to work so called BTN(?? no abbreviations sent even though asked for)as found under google. Was transferred to ward & 3rd party ie one of my colleagues checked rota and advised her (though I doubt that she said who she was)that I would be back at wotk on 16th -It was silly of my colleague to give out information but are they allowed to do this?
We are redressing this complaint and I know that we have reasonable case with it being a single premium policy, but is there anything else from what I have written that I can complain about, because I feel they have been really underhand.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks (sorry for being long-winded)0 -

Your job with the NHS basically says it all, they have those details and the full details of your hubby and they still sold you the ppi, which is a mis-sale because your 6 months full/half pay amounts to the same coverage as the ppi.
I take it you haven't lodged a complaint of mis-sale yet? If you haven't that would be my first point of complaint. The fact that they have filled in the forms wrongly would be another mis-sale point.
Did they explain any exclusions from making a claim on the ppi?
Did they explain you'd be interest on the ppi?
Did they explain the ppi would be treated as a 2nd loan and that interest would be chargeable on the this over the full term of the loan?
There are so many reasons. Have a look at the reasons for mis-sale in the main 'Reclaim 1000's' part of the website. The more reasons the better, and if you have the SAR info you can copy this and include this with your Complaint form, even highlighting the sections for each point you raise. Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -

Hi,
they have rejected this complaint if you look at the the quote at the start of the post you will see the reasons they gave for this.
But they have given us 8 weeks to get back to them if we are unhappy.
Also are they allowed to phone my place of work and ask questions about me without my knowledge?
Many thanks for replying.0 -
Would a third party be permitted to call you place of employment and ask about rotas etc?? Certainly my firm would never ever give that information out?? In doing that did they not act illegally??0

Hi all - I am very new to this and really wanted to see if anyone could confirm something for me?
Firstplus have agreed to refund me, i signed the letter and sent it back. They got this on the 25th August.
My PPI refress letter states 6 - 8 weeks (This seems awfully long to write a cheque!)
My question is, has anyone actually received their PPI cheque from Firstplus? As in have they actually started to send them?
Does anyone know what happen now - is it just a case of working through the backlog and just sending out the cheques?
Really hope someone can help - thanks

Hi there, you need to find out who the insurer was,if you ring your catalogue they should tell you this.
Give FOS a ring
http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/contact/index.html
And ask if the insurer was covered in 2001,they will help you with this info, and tell you what to do,if they were then you put a complaint into the insurer and if they say no,the FOS can help.
If the ppi is still going on your catalogue payment, then ring and cancel this (if you havent already).
Yes i have cancelled this.:)
Rang up the catalogue people and they dont no who the insurers were at the time and going to find out and send me all the policy documents.
Dont look to promising 0
