Hi
Was wondering whether amybody can help me, i want to claim mis-sold ppi back on two previous loans. I was going to use one of these no win no fee places but after seeing what they charge i thought i might give it a go myself. The only problem is my two loans were taken out over the six year limit you have to claim. The 1st one was taken out in nov 99 and the 2nd one in 03. Has anybody had any success in claiming back ppi in loans older than 6 years old?0 -

In short YES, a few people have but its not so much a 6 year limit but more a limit of when you became aware of being mis-sold, if that makes sense?
Hello There,
You can start a complaint if you have your account number. Its easy to do yourself, so i would avoid a claims company. . You can do the complaint over the phone or via letter form, its up to you
to get you started, Look here for info and reasons for being miss-sold your ppi, Most ppi's were front loaded which is a big NO NO so go for it!
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/rec...nsurance#step2
Once you have had a read though and have your reasons. You will need to fill in a consumer complaints questionnaire. Which I would download, have a read though and familiarise yourself with the questionnaire and its layout. The questionnaire can be found here
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/rec...nsurance#step3
the main info you will need to complete the questionnaire is:
Loan account number/numbers OR CC account number/ numbers
start date
finish date
and your reasons
also have a read here for even more information:
http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.u...PPI-forms.html
Then complete the form and send it off. If you ring your bank or CC company they may have a ppi complaint line and can start your complaint for you over the phone but id get as much info ready before phoning them. If you start a complaint over the phone, they will ask the reasons why you felt mis-sold so have all the information ready and be prepared.
simples, hope that may help, good luck

Hi i wonder if anyone can help me, i started a claim with hsbc in august 2010, 8 weeks ago i received a letter saying that i would have a decision before the end of this august.
The thing is i have received this decision, all £167 of it, now i have had several loans with hsbc, but i only have paperwork for one of them, which shows i paid £680 in insurance, can anyone please help me with what i need to do now, ive searched the web for a template letter to kindly decline this offer, but im having no luck. Or would it be best to ring and speak to them, as they have no break down on how they have come to this offer.
Please can anyone help me x x0 -

The PPI was taken out with citi at this time but the insurance is provided by sterling insurance group. Do i write to the current providers of my loan or can i contact citi but not sure if they still exist or do i contact the insurance providers although they didnt actually sell the PPI?? So confused any help would be appreciated0

Lee, good on you for going to do it yourself, we'll certainly do our best to help you on here too, as marksman says it's not a 6 year since the loan rule, it's 6 years from when you became aware of the mis-sale.Hi

I've just been succesful with two loans with Clydesdale Bank one going back to early 2002 and the other mid 2006, I also have five complaints in with RBS all loans, with the earliest going back to 1997, so far i've not been rejected but have about 5/6 weeks till final decision due. Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -

Thanks for that it is with LLOYDS Not the Halifax is that the right amount total 2,000 + Thanks again
They use examples that are exactly the same I have the examples on the acceptence in front of me. This is not your offer only examples of what they might pay generally.
Your offer will be calculated once the acceptence letter is returned.
It will depend on
When the loan started
When the loan finished.
How much ppi you paid each month
weher or not there was a single premium loan added to pay for the ppi up front.
Whether you paid off all the loan or finished it early
The interest you paid
Ho many months you paid PPI
Whether the loan and the ppi is still ongoing.
I can work it out for you but will need all the nformation above to do a accurate calculation
Just to be clear these figure do not represent your refund
