Hi di3004 and Niggly,
I requested for calculation for the following but no one has come forth, so I am re-posting it again.
Hi Di3004,
Finally got a letter from Halifax but to be honest I do not understand their calculation. I took a loan of £6,000 in 2000. In my agreement
6,000 - Loan
2,230.20 charge
=Total: 8,230.20
1,278.28 - Insurance
424.00 - insurance charge
Total insurance= 1,753.20
Total to pay= 9,983
APR - 14%
Second loan taken in June 2003
Loan - £6,400
Credit charge- £1,983.80
Total £8,983.80
Insurance £1,477.82
insurance charge £ 424.78
Total Insurance £1,902.60
APR 10.9%
This what the Halifax has come up with that is why I need help:-
First Loan they offered the following figures
Refunding of premium £983.21
Refund of interest at 14% £365.47
Interest at 8% calculated at 30/08/2011 £992.99
Optional excess balance & Interest £ 93.67
Total £2,435.30
Second Loan they offered the following:-
Refund Premiums £ 516.53
Refund of interest at 10.9% £ 171.50
Interest at 8% as at 30/08/2011 £ 406.30
Total £1,094.33
Total Loan 1 and 2 =3,529.67
Can you please advise whether these figures are correct.
Something else they have come up with. I was discharged from bankruptcy in March 10, 2006 and according to the Official Receiver, after 3 years after discharge, even my credit reference should not have any trace of bankruptcy on me, so it was a shock when Halifax wrote to me saying that they notice that I was made bankrupt in 2005 and they have contacted the receivers and they will send money to them, this has made me sick because Halifax were the reason I lost my house and got myself into this mess. They sold the house and they repaid themselves and the others the money after the house was auctioned.
I really need this money and I need direction on what to do next. I have not contacted them yet because I want some advise before I do so.
Hi
I wondered if I may ask you how long you waited for the calculation details from when you sent your acceptance letter back to Halifax.
Thanks.

Steve thanks for your comments , i did an email to MBNA/Virgin last night asking them to take another look and i will keep you posted on the out come , i am already 6 weeks down the line with FOS so have nothing to lose , cheers DaveThe fos wil look at "what is considered fair and reasonable" as well so it doesn't only take the relevant law of the land into account i feel you are fairly safe with these lenders dave,i'd say go for it.
Great news today Egg sent me £852 refund on a c/card ppi claim which was originally rejected because the card was from 2003 :T0 -

i've had a surprise offer well a shock offer i should say from hsbc there offering me just £1492.00 thats for a credit card i had for 12 years and a 4k flexi loan there coming this old 6 year cherry i've told the cmc i'm not prepared to accept it,i want the other 6 years estimated on previous years premiums which is what the fos are advising people to tell the banks at the moment and i believe they've been doing it, this amounts to a swizz as the accounts were closed down years ago and not been in arrears for years so basing premium payments and interest on closed accounts which arn't in arrears is clearly wrong i estimate these clowns are about 3k short.0

Sorry to be asking another question but i have a wallis card, that I put in a claim to Santander, I was told by santander that i had to do 2 claims one to creation cards who i originally took the card out with in Nov 2001-sept 2004 then one to santander took over the account from sept 2004-present. I have done this and at first creation denied any ppi (luckily I have my statements) they are now looking into this again.
Santander have turned me down (even though they paid out for my house of fraser card within 7 days, using the same reasons) so i took it to FLA who werent much help, they wrote to santander and santander turned them down, and so they told me to seek legal advice if i was not happy. I took advice on here and contacted ombudsman
Creation have sent a letter today after declaring no ppi on the three numbers i supplied and after requesting they have another look at my accounts. They have not acknowledged miss selling but as a gesture of good will returning my premiums plus interest, unfortunately they only looked at one month so £3.11 was returned :j, I have called them and they are looking back into the other account numbers and forward the cheque BUT the good part of this is that surely this will have bearing on my claim against santander who took over the card in 2004, but have refused my request for miss selling ppi, the FLA didn't do anything apart from write a letter so its now lodged with the ombudsman. Is it worth contacting the ombudsman with this information.
Thanks again for all the wonderful advice

After my success with getting my PPI back from RBS I have urged my husband to contact MBNA with regard to his credit card, He has had it for many years and always paid PPI on it. It was initially a credit card with another company who were taken over by MBNA - he thinks it was with Bank of Scotland. Does that sound right to anyone? We cannot remember how he applied as it was so long ago but I am guessing that he filled a form in and posted it off to BOS. He still has the MBNA card. Does anyone know if they issued different account numbers when MBNA took over or would he need to find an account number for the other card and if so how would he do this? He was a college lecturer when he applied for the card and would have had sufficient cover from the education department.
Any assistance would be gratefully received.0
