Hi looking for advice my daughter sent a letter copied from this site to her bank as she noticed they had added ppi to her card they have replied with an offer and they want to put it back on the card should she accept the first offer and does she have to accept any refund back on the card, she would preferr the cash in hand as they say any advice welcome, thanks
Hi there
First of all well done to your daughter.
This seems to be the thing they do with Credit Cards, but maybe you (your daughter) could try contacting them, ringing/email or letter and ask if they would kindly send this refund by cheque as she wishes to use it towards something else ( a debt even), they may consider this.
Good luck and maybe others on here will have some advice as well xThe one and only "Dizzy Di"

i've had a surprise offer well a shock offer i should say from hsbc there offering me just £1492.00 thats for a credit card i had for 12 years and a 4k flexi loan there coming this old 6 year cherry i've told the cmc i'm not prepared to accept it,i want the other 6 years estimated on previous years premiums which is what the fos are advising people to tell the banks at the moment and i believe they've been doing it, this amounts to a swizz as the accounts were closed down years ago and not been in arrears for years so basing premium payments and interest on closed accounts which arn't in arrears is clearly wrong i estimate these clowns are about 3k short.
Hi Steve
They are trying it on then?
I'm sure HSBC have been doing the same with others as well.
Steve is that the amount offered before CMC takes their bit?
Sorry I am not sure how it works with these.
But you stand your ground honey, you have done so fab up to now, keep at it! xx:beer:The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Sorry to be asking another question but i have a wallis card, that I put in a claim to Santander, I was told by santander that i had to do 2 claims one to creation cards who i originally took the card out with in Nov 2001-sept 2004 then one to santander took over the account from sept 2004-present. I have done this and at first creation denied any ppi (luckily I have my statements) they are now looking into this again.
Santander have turned me down (even though they paid out for my house of fraser card within 7 days, using the same reasons) so i took it to FLA who werent much help, they wrote to santander and santander turned them down, and so they told me to seek legal advice if i was not happy. I took advice on here and contacted ombudsman
Creation have sent a letter today after declaring no ppi on the three numbers i supplied and after requesting they have another look at my accounts. They have not acknowledged miss selling but as a gesture of good will returning my premiums plus interest, unfortunately they only looked at one month so £3.11 was returned :j, I have called them and they are looking back into the other account numbers and forward the cheque BUT the good part of this is that surely this will have bearing on my claim against santander who took over the card in 2004, but have refused my request for miss selling ppi, the FLA didn't do anything apart from write a letter so its now lodged with the ombudsman. Is it worth contacting the ombudsman with this information.
Thanks again for all the wonderful advice
Lisa
Hi Lisa
Yes there is no harm in contacting the FOS, see what they have to say about this, if you've not done so already, think they may be open until half 5 (I think), good luck and I am sorry to hear of the running around you've been through with these.

After my success with getting my PPI back from RBS I have urged my husband to contact MBNA with regard to his credit card, He has had it for many years and always paid PPI on it. It was initially a credit card with another company who were taken over by MBNA - he thinks it was with Bank of Scotland. Does that sound right to anyone? We cannot remember how he applied as it was so long ago but I am guessing that he filled a form in and posted it off to BOS. He still has the MBNA card. Does anyone know if they issued different account numbers when MBNA took over or would he need to find an account number for the other card and if so how would he do this? He was a college lecturer when he applied for the card and would have had sufficient cover from the education department.
Any assistance would be gratefully received.
Hiya
I have never had any dealings with these companies but I am sure many have and have been in the same position.
I would maybe contact the MBNA who may possibly confirm if different numbers, they maybe able to track any previous numbers down otherwise.
Give them a call and see if they will kindly help.
Good luck x;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Hi Di yes it is, i've now told the cmc there i'm not having it, i was expecting this to be honest but i have asked the cmc to ask the bank to base previous (unknown!) years premiums on actual previous years and knock this historical interest on the head and go on the true arrears rather than a nil balance on a closed account it's got to be 8% simple hasn't it, i'll get em. :beer:0 -
Hello! I'm new (to posting, been a lurker for years), just have a quick question. I complained about PPI on an RBS business loan in April using the guides and letter templates on here (thanks for that!). I didn't know the PPI was there, couldn't have claimed on it if I wanted to as far as I'm aware and haven't been running the business since 9 months after I took the loan out, in fact haven't been in paid employment at all since then due to my son's ill health and care needs and yet been paying the loan and PPI all this time, just finished in May. My letter got sent back to me un-read and I took it into the branch for them to forward to the correct department. They acknowledged receipt of the complaint in June and said I'd hear within 4 weeks. Four weeks later I had a letter saying it still hadn't been resolved and would be another 4 weeks. Two phone calls later, I've been told firstly I'd hear by the end of August and now being told I'll hear by the end of September. I never received any communication whatsoever from them other than these two "it'll be 4 more weeks" letters, no word that they'd had their 8 week deadline extended, nothing until I phoned them to query why it had been so long. My question is - will I actually have a decision by the end of September (they told me on my last phone call that they received my complaint at the end of May) or will they be able to delay it even further? Also, I'm not sure how much I should be expecting back should they uphold my claim? The loan was for £4000 over 4 years (2007-2011) and I estimated I paid somewhere in the region of £500-ish in PPI.0

Unless her card has arrears on it, they should be paying it back to her, as there's no arrears there should be no need to pay off a balance, however, it might be in her interest to reduce her balance, but the other side of that is they win, as they reduce the balance with money she has overpaid, so i'd be demanding it back as per the FSA handbook FS10/36.:DHi looking for advice my daughter sent a letter copied from this site to her bank as she noticed they had added ppi to her card they have replied with an offer and they want to put it back on the card should she accept the first offer and does she have to accept any refund back on the card, she would preferr the cash in hand as they say any advice welcome, thanksThanks to all the competition posters.0
