Posted yesterday regarding asking RBS to look at reviewing their PPI decision after rejecting for a third time. Pointed out that they accepted my other claim (admitted no responsibility and gesture of goodwill etc) and so as I was looking for consistency. In e-mail box at 12:00 today :"Dear Mr Dirks Engine Room,** *********"
Your appeal was reviewed this morning and I am pleased to say that we have upheld your claim in respect to PPI/******. Therefore we will be making you an offer of settlement in accordance with FSA guidelines.
As your claim has been considered previously by the Financial Ombudsman Service, they will write to you with the formal decision. Regrettably, I cannot provide you with the figure that we will be offering you, as this has yet to be agreed with the Ombudsman. However, I have been told they intend to write to you in the next 7-10 days with our decision along with our offer.
Finally, I realise this has been a protracted process and I apologise that it has gone on for so long. However, I would like to thank you for your patience and I wish you well for the future.
Yours sincerely
I have to say the gentleman that I have dealt with for the last 4 weeks on both claims (via mr Hester) has been excellent. Very efficient and makes a pleasant change.:D:D:T:T:T

It seems like being blinded with science to start with doesnt it,it's not hard though if you have the info, patience and time to sort things out anythings easy.
Yes, its the info that makes the difference, otherwise its a case of not doing anything for fear of doing it wrong and messing up the chance of a reclaim. I did wonder about using one of those companies that advertise to do it for you, but I decided against it now I've found this forum, so mega thanks to all of you for such a useful pile of info.0 -
Ive one win with Egg and one loss,
or what do i do next?
the letter from egg is:
I would like to assure you that i have carried out a full review of your account and
all our records indicate that there have been no ppi premiums charged to your
account within the last six years (loan started in 1998 & paid off in 2000).
It is the policy of egg not to refund ant charges that were applied more than six years prior
to the date of your complaint. Therefore, in line with this fact your complaint has been rejected
(boo)
where or what should i do next please?
thanks x.:D:p Perfer et obdurai dolor hic tibi proderit olim

Ok just another really silly question, with an HSBC credit card thta started mid '90's, with ppi, would the ppi provider be HSBC or someone else? How would I find out who the provider was, if its not HSBC, as I will need the policy number for the ppi won't I, and that will be different to the card number? Or is it? groan..................0

Hi marksman if you have a rejection letter the best thing i think to do is just take it to the fos,you could mention to egg that you have only just discovered that you have an issue with the way the ppi has been sold and there is not an issue with lenders going back and paying out on claims a lot further back than this i've now had a loan pay out after 16 years i think it depends on the lender as well.0 -

Hi kima you could request the paperwork directly from the bank i've now got details from LTSB of all my accounts going back 18 years,it;s worth a try. they should tell you who underwrote the policy if you can get them to admit what your details are,i think the more claims people put in the more of a pain the banks are going to be but then as we know they don't need a lot of encouragement to be nuisances do they0 -
