Will these monkeys never learn ?? There is a cooling off period so cancellation should be no problem. What HBOS should have done was to try and establish if your MIL was already covered with insurance, that is the responsible way, not just sell her a policy adlib.
Whoever the person was selling her life insurance bet your bottom dollar it was to earn commission to meet the banks targets ??:mad::mad:

This is actually very worrying, why ? because is life insurance the new name for a PPI ???

I personally would report HBOS to the FSA so they aware of this crafty new move

    Hi Beamerguy,
Actually it seems that way that they're trying to get you to take this now instead of ppi, however, the bank did do a report in to what she already has, she has cover on two life insurance to cover her for the next 15 years, and for over twice what the loan was for. The policy they sold to her was only for the loan amount it wouldn'e even have covered her for the interest and she couldn't claim on it for the first two years, so really only valid for the 'last' 5 years of the loan, but still paying for the policy from day one.
I am more concerned about this latest development with this bank.
Thanks to all the competition posters.

    Hi Di,

is being asthmatic a pre-excisting med condition?

Only ive been told it isnt? if you can shed some light, with your vast knowledge
The few policies i've seen that any pre-existing condition can't be claimed on, i'm ashmatic also and the amount of different things that can eminate because of an asthma attack are numerous and did you know three people die each day by an asthma attack!
Thanks to all the competition posters.

    Hello there

    Hey that is fine.........:D;)

First of all, if your loan was in 2006, you can try searching for the account number for this on your loan statements, if you bank online this normally allows you to go back to about 2002, so basically where you were paying the loan from should hold the details.

The loan account number is normally shown next to the monthly repayments.
Track it down or even call into your bank if your still with these now and they should be able to check these details for you on request.

As soon as you have these, then contact the company and just as a general query ask if you were paying insurance.
Failing that the other way would be to request a Subject Access Request (SAR), where they have 40 calendar days to comply and send all they hold on the account.
You enclose £10 cheque or postal order for this request, and below there is a SAR letter template if you want to use this and tweak if required, good luck.

Hi, thanks for that... I'll have a look through my statements then...:rotfl:
  • Hi gang

I havent been able to sort out this mess with Cap One yet - I couldnt ring from work as I have someone with "big ears" sat next to me and I didnt want to have to discuss it all with her listening!! So anyway I have arranged to leave early on Monday and am determined to sort it all out.

Also, whilst I am on, I sent a SAR request to Direct Line for a loan we had a few years ago, they have now written back asking me to telephone them as soon as possible!! I tried this morning but obviously not there on a weekend so will also ring them on Monday too!! Just wondering what that will all be about, anyone got any ideas.

Also does anyone know if Egg have been given any extension, we are due to hear again from them by the 7th July so just wondering if we will get yet another "sorry not had time" or at worst a "not upheld" letter. Also are they actually paying out on credit cards that have been applied for on the internet?

Also got a letter dated 16th June from HSBC stating that we will hear by 14th July again but I am expecting this will be yet another delay letter we get back from them.

    Hiya

Many prefer all correspondence in writing, so that they don't get fobbed off over the phone, not saying this will or is the case for you, but personally I would write to them and post by recorded delivery and if you prefer to deal in writing only then tell them that (you may require the written evidence if you want to take it further, for example the FOS.

Ask them what they want and give them your email details for a quicker way and free way of getting back to you, good luck.:)

    Hi all,

Just an udate since I emailled the Lloyds CEO the other day saying i'm not happy that i've got to wait til end August when i've been waiting 7 months already. I also requested to be contacted by email because I work in a Hospital and long hours so always miss their calls.
Well i've just had a phone call from Halifax Customer Services, on a Sunday! the lady said they haven't got access to external email and it's not safe for them to send confidential emails. She was working today so thought she would try on the off chance of getting hold of me. Anyway she said that I will definitely have an outcome by the end of August, there are no if's or but's about it, they have got to be done by the deadline. I asked if they had actually started dealing with complaints now as when I spoke to them 2 weeks ago they still hadn't started and she said they had now. She also said that hopefully mine will be dealt with a lot sooner than then as they've been with Halifax for months and months!
So lets hope I receive so good news soon :D
