Hi, sorry for any repetition- I bought a car on finance in 2006 under FIAT financial services but no longer have any of the paperwork since I paid it off 2 years ago. I just heard about these PPI reclaims recently and was wondering if I could check if I was mis sold it or not. How would I go about this if it's possible?

Hi guys really busy on here today, just got back from shopping yawn, now had a generic letter from hsbc wondered if anyone else has the same letter there saying if claims don't get upheld they will be paying an element of interest as compensation for the delay any others got this?

    Hi Cappo

    Hope your well.
Seems like they have started sending those timescale letters out then?
Well lets hope you win anyway, I'm sure you will and that is a turn up on the books - compo for the delay.:T

    Hello there

    Hey that is fine.........:D;)

First of all, if your loan was in 2006, you can try searching for the account number for this on your loan statements, if you bank online this normally allows you to go back to about 2002, so basically where you were paying the loan from should hold the details.

The loan account number is normally shown next to the monthly repayments.
Track it down or even call into your bank if your still with these now and they should be able to check these details for you on request.

As soon as you have these, then contact the company and just as a general query ask if you were paying insurance.
Failing that the other way would be to request a Subject Access Request (SAR), where they have 40 calendar days to comply and send all they hold on the account.
You enclose £10 cheque or postal order for this request, and below there is a SAR letter template if you want to use this and tweak if required, good luck.

OK, have just spoken to the Ombudsman.

He was pretty confused by my plight.

Midland and General wasn't regulated (as with all brokers at the time) but, the underwriter of the insurance was.

SO... got to find out who the underwriter was and complain to them... SO, seen as GE don't have my details on file, how do I go about finding out the underwriter???

    Hiya

    I did find this here....

    First National Bank PLC
    First National House
    College Road
    Harrow, HA1 1FB
    Phone: 020 88611313
    Fax:

Ring them to make sure, it was found here....

    Good luck.

Thank you so very much, rang the number, turns out they are now owned by Sandander!!
Seems to be a case of world domination by Santander lol.
They are to post me further details so fingers crossed they can allocate them.
Have also lodged a further complaint with MBNA turns out I had a card with them in the early 2000's which I had completly forgotten about.
With my son hoping to start uni in Sept this money would come in soooo handy!
Regarding my MnS complaint which I mentioned on a previous thread got a reply from them today saying due to the volume of complaints it's now going to take them up to 16 weeks.

    Hiya

Right then in my case and others in the same position, you can ask write to the lender and ask them to provide you with the PPI policy details, these are not always enclosed with your loan documents when you receive them, and are normally requested for separately.

The details of the insurer/underwriter are on the policy details, you then pursue them with the complaint, and if this fails, the FOS will take the case on as they would have been regulated.

    Hope this helps, good luck.

    Your very welcome.;)

And the very best on all your reclaims.

Good luck to your son too and I know what you mean with uni coming up as well, fingers crossed.

Brill, so my orignial complaint letter to FP was sent along with an SAR request and a £10 postal order. So should get that info,
(as was directly requested) in the statutory period.

    Countdown.

Thanks Di. You are a diamond!
