If it was repaid within the last 6 years, it will still be showing on his Equifax credit report.
Get him to sign up for the free 30 day trial and request a report (takes 5 minutes if that).
The loan will show on there, but it will only show you the last 4 or 5 digits of the account number.
If you contact the company with this info and they still can't find it, do what I did.
Write to Equifax and dispute the loan being on the credit report, citing that you have contacted the company and they have no records of the loan existing and that you cannot recall it either.
Tell them that you think a mistake has been made.
They then contact the provider and if it is anything like what happened with me, you will get a letter from the loan provider stating that the loan must stay on there as it cannot be removed before 6 years has elapsed.
The loan account number will be on their letterthanks for this,it will help a lot of people xx.

Remember to cancel the service within 30 days though or you will start to pay for it.
I find it very convenient that all of these companies cannot locate records when they think it will cost them in reclaims
This was my cunning way of tripping them up, so hopefully it will work for others.
Oh and I would also like to mention that I am one of the 0.01% of proactive men on here lol.
And there is a section at the end of the report that tells you how to contact them if you feel there is an error with anything on the report.I'm a secret crime fighter0 -

What an amazing suggestion, this will be useful to lots of people...also shows up the banks who are blatantly lying!!

Emailed the CEO yesterday at HSBC regarding my 2 M&S Money claims put on hold due to JR. Within 15 minutes had received an email reply that it would be passed straight to a senior member of their PPI complaints team. Had a call at 8.15am this morning on my mobile (I had put the number on the email) and a very helpful lady said that the FSA had given them until, I think the 14th August, to deal with complaints put on hold but, as I had contacted them they would pull the files and I would receive a response by the end of next week.
So anyone with M & S complaints on hold I suggest you email the CEO at HSBC and they will deal with your complaint more promptly.
Fingers and everything else crossed now on these that I get the same result as the others I have claimed.
This is really useful...I have a claim against M & S..through a claims company...( started way before I found this forum) and was told that M & S had not responded at all, not one word, ( obviously due to the JR)
Anyway, I shall sgive this info to the company, ( doing the job for them).....thanks for sharing this!:)0
