Hi all - this is my first post so apologies if i go over old ground !
I recently sent off a £1 P/O to Lombard Bank requesting a copy of my original loan agreement.
Today i received a letter asking to call their SARS team which i did..
I was then told that my original documentation was lost in a fire !!
Now, i live less than a 2 minute drive from the lombard head office in enfield and i do not remember any fires there !!!
Has anyone else experienced this or are they blatantly winding me up?
Any advice would be appreciated..
thanks

The things they say!!!.
have you the account number? just phone them up, tell them you want to put a claim in for mis sell with your reasons.
If they have not got your file.....then they cannot say you were not mis sold or that you did not have ppi,can they?.
Wonder what happens then?.
May be worth phoning FOS and asking where you stand on this.

Hi Sal
Your most welcome.
Yes go got it, you've nothing to lose, please let us know how you get on, fingers crossed. Cheers.;)
Further to my earlier notes, I went through Lloyds' own process to complain about PPI misselling on 5 May. I am still waiting to hear from them. They did send another letter to say "they are still dealing with it and will be back to me within 4 weeks with their decision" but I am still waiting. Not sure how long I wait before I contact them (it has been about 4 weeks now since last letter). Anyway, might call them, will let you know how I get on. sal x0 -

I would quiz then about the fire, sounds very odd. regardless. they should keep backups and if they cannot find the docs, that is there problem, not yours0 -
Welcome to mse, these guys (cap1) seem to do this sort of thing all the time, firstly did you get your acceptance forms back on time and send by recorded delivery? If so you can prove that they got your documents back by the deadline, also if they talked to you on the phone it then becomes an advised sale and theres lots of things they should have told you about namely, t&c's, medical exclusions ,being self employed etc i think capital 1 are caught bang to rights, contact them and tell them that your form was returned on time you should have the paperwork to prove it was delivered on time and you expect them to comply with there earlier ruling or you will contact the fsa, i think with all the problems we've had with this lender we all need to maybe sign some sort of petition.
Hello cappo just to update you had a phone call yesterday from capital one apoligising for sending the second letter stating it should have never been sent out then informing me and that my claim has been upheld so very happy ,am also waiting to hear from mbna so may be back on here moaning about them soonthanks for your help

AMAZING, the left hand of Capital One does not know what it's right hand is doing.
You have a letter saying they are paying you back £3202.
Reply to these morons, send them a copy of their own letter and say "you now expect the amount of £3202 to be paid to you within 14 days.
With such a letter in your hands, a County Court would find in your favour
They also NEVER sent me the insurance policy and when they did, it was full of excuses as well. I would never had agreed to such a junky policy.
Capital One are a fraudulent company and should be banned from the money market. How can the FSA licence them for lies, deceipt and fraud
This forum has really exposed Capital One and for anyone who deals with them in future we can say ... "on your own head be it"
just to let you know had a call from capital one yesterday apoligising for sending the second letter as it was sent by mistake and that my claim has been upheld happy days:) thanks for your support0 -

What an appalling way for them to treat you...it is just shameful! If you read some of the posts you will get an idea, that although the banks are pretty poor in dealing with ther customer, Capital One are the gold medalists when it comes to selling insurance and then dismissing any claims.
There are some great people on this forum, who have lots of knowledge and experience who can support you.
It does sound to me as though there may be two accounts, or just a couple of halfwits in departments, where the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing!!
Good luck, let us know how you get on!:):)
Hi citibird just to let you know had a call from capital one apoligising for sending the second letter stating that it was done in error and that my claim has been upheld  thanks for your support MBNA are next0 -
