PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

Firstly, I apologise if I'm asking ridiculous questions which have already been answered on here...there are so many threads to read, I wouldn't know where to start and I guess everyone's situation is slightly different anyway.
As you can probably guess, I'm new to this but want to start the process of attempting to reclaim a considerable amount of PPI....as I will try to summarise below. Any help or guidance you can give would be hugely appreciated
HFX unsecured (but large) loans - initially taken out (with PPI) in Feb 2001, paid off by consolidation loans (again with HFX and with PPI) in Sept 2001, Apr 2003 & May 2006 and finally settled in early 2010. Can I look to reclaim PPI for all of these loans (although all have different agreements) even though some are over 6 years old? Will this affect any other accounts I may still have with HFX?
BCARD - PPI initially taken out when first obtained the account in 1993. PPI cancelled in late 2010 when I realised I had been paying the ridiculous costs for nearly 18 years (what a complete numpty I am!). Can I claim back to 1993? Still customer to BCARD but now w/o PPI - are they likely to cancel my account if I claim against them?
EGG - similarly to BCARD, but PPI taken out with the account in 2002 and cancelled in late 2010. Can I claim back this far? Still a customer but w/o PPI - are they likely to cancel my account if I claim against them?
There are others (yes I know, can't believe what a mug I have been and how much money I have wasted!) but these are the main ones for now.....
Many thanks in advance for any guidance you can offer.
Holky, you should be able to claim for all of the items you mention, however, don't feel as you are a numpty for taking them. We've all been in the same boat, I had 5 loans out of 7 where they had PPI on them from RBS, was told I needed to take it, which was mis-selling.
Figure out your reasons for the mis-sell and fill out the FOS Consumer Questionnaire and send it away to whoever sold the loan+ppi to you, whether it was a bank branch, you will probably need your loan account numbers and credit card numbers but if these are still active it shouldn't be a problem. For your credit cards, if you've got any statements showing your ppi whilst active this may help.
The FOS questionnaire is pretty thorough and I'm sure it asks if you the policy still ran or has been cancelled or was paid off when settled.
Good luck and keep us posted. Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -
Just a thought if it wasn't for us having been ripped of by their employers these jobsworths wouldn't have a job.
How about thanking them for their help and asking for their name,
once you've got it ,thank them again and let them know you will be including it in your e-mail to their CEO:eek::cool:
I agree, after seeing what was written in my reply from RBS for my SAR where they wanted me to list the date, time, department I spoke to, who I spoke to, I figure anytime you speak to someone you should note these things, just in case.
As for thanking them, remember, they are probably just being told what to say, but as i've always said it's nice to be nice, and if they are not nice back, get their name and complain about them, as far as I'm aware most banks will have a code of conduct about how to treat customers(oops what are we on here for)..lol.Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -

Welcome to the forum..
What an appalling way for them to treat you...it is just shameful! If you read some of the posts you will get an idea, that although the banks are pretty poor in dealing with ther customer, Capital One are the gold medalists when it comes to selling insurance and then dismissing any claims.
There are some great people on this forum, who have lots of knowledge and experience who can support you.
It does sound to me as though there may be two accounts, or just a couple of halfwits in departments, where the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing!!
Good luck, let us know how you get on!:):)0 -

Hi if your account is closed whilst you are trying to reclaim contact the fsa and report the institution doing it,It's not likely though i had capital 1 suspend my account when i put in for my reclaim i soon sorted them out lol .As for claiming way back i know the popular idea is 6 years but if you have records i.e bank statements, agreements etc you can go back pretty much to the year dot,i now had success reclaiming a 16 year old loan from LTSB.0 -

Hi, found this address, hope its the right one, but if you want to double check ring the FOS, as I would imagine they would have had dealings of complaints to deal with.

They sent me a letter saying they had recieved my letter and would be dealing with it but it may take up to eight weeks. Its just coming up to seven weeks and I wish they would hurry up because I am experiencing some financial hardship. Its our money in the first place and whats so irritating is if you owe them money you get letters and countless phone calls but getting money from them is like pulling teeth. Grrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!

Looks like yours will take 16 weeks.0 -

AMAZING, the left hand of Capital One does not know what it's right hand is doing.
You have a letter saying they are paying you back £3202.
Reply to these morons, send them a copy of their own letter and say "you now expect the amount of £3202 to be paid to you within 14 days.
With such a letter in your hands, a County Court would find in your favour
They also NEVER sent me the insurance policy and when they did, it was full of excuses as well. I would never had agreed to such a junky policy.
Capital One are a fraudulent company and should be banned from the money market. How can the FSA licence them for lies, deceipt and fraud
This forum has really exposed Capital One and for anyone who deals with them in future we can say ... "on your own head be it"0
