Well Di i've taken your advice and filled in the complaint forms for ICO. I'll be sending them off tomorrow. Bet much won't get done though because as far as they're concerned it's all resolved now. But it took a lot of time and effort to get there and I wasn't treated very well by Barclaycard. But i'll keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks amersall, we got a letter today saying the new repayment amount is exactly what they quoted excluding ppi at the time we set it up so all looks good. There is no mention of a change in the term. We're happy at this and just mad that we didn't cancel it in cooling off period £300 down the drain! But we're learning thanks to this site!!
    That is good.

    Thanks Di :)
If I didn't have the encouragement that I get from you all on here, I probably wouldn't of done half as much as what I have done so far. :j

Wonder if you contact the FSA and see what they say about this, because if the new rules were that banks/companies had to open old cases/complaints to check for mis selling, then they should and must go by the new rules of the FSA where interest should be included.

Give the FSA a call next week first and let them know you issues here, maybe then if this is the case you could contact the bank and tell them this.
Just a thought but maybe worth it, ring the FSA though and do not email as you will know they may take some time to come back otherwise, fingers crossed. x

Rang FSA today and they were, in my opinion, a complete waste of time. I explained the situation and was told that if I had received a final response letter and was unhappy I should take it to the FOS.
He didn't seem to understand that I was asking for information on whether the banks should look again at cases that were responded to before they decided not to appeal the JR, and what the "rules" were regarding the 8% interest. Either I was not making myself clear or he really didn't know what I was on about. I suggested they must think I had a case as no bank would offer a "goodwill payment" just because I had written to them with a complaint.

Also emailed two contacts I have at MBNA on Friday to try and find out what is happening about clearing my credit card , having received the balance cheque some 2 weeks ago. No replies at all.

I had 6 cases go in before the j.r and two got rejected outright within 4 weeks of being put in,i think the lenders reject the cases quickly to clear the decks as it were for more viable cases if the cases are weak or uncertain, the strongest i feel are the advised cases and loans which are front loaded, the un -advised sales are a bit different sometimes, but they do still get upheld depending on how strong your reasons are. MY gut feeling is anything not rejected within 5 weeks of being submitted is in with a fighting chance although the on hold cases have been stuck in the loop i still personally feel the lenders reject them quickly generally if they can, only my opinion though

Thanks for this...:) I'm inclined to agree with you...
I take heart from the home page of reclaiming on Martin's website...the lenders are almost bound to say no...then it's off to the ombudsman....;)

We certainly have nothing to lose...and I feel strongly that the big banks knew exactly how to pull in significant revenue by getting their customers to buy PPI, by one means or another...their conduct has been questionable at best...they have made soooo much on PPI...lots of HUGE bonuses paid out, at the expense of people like us, just trying to get by:mad:.

Were it not for this forum, I for one, would never have had the courage to challenge these big banks...and thanks to everyone who has helped...especially Di..:A who advised when I was a bit anxious about next steps..and good luck to us all who were duped by these big institutions...we are consumers exercising our rights...x
