    What a fantastic morning!

After being an avid reader of this forum I decided to chance my luck on an old loan agreement I found languishing at the back of my filing cabinet. I took out a loan with Alliance and Leicester back in 1999 over 5 years that included PPI of £1453.80. At the time I was completely broke and when I was told over the phone that I stood more chance of being approved if I took out the PPI, in desperation I agreed.

Thankfully, being a very sad filer of paperwork, I found the original agreement and I sent a copy of this to Santander along with the questionairre and a letter on the 10th May (yes, two weeks ago!)

This morning I received a letter back from them telling me that 'After considering the available information, we have not been able to establish whether you were provided with sufficient details to allow you to make an informed decision when this policy was taken out. We would like to offer £2554.81 as a refund, including interest, of all the premiums paid for the PPI element of the loan.' That's all the payments plus £1101.01 in interest from June 1999 to May 31st 2011!

Hooray......Keep the faith people! The money will be in my bank within two weeks - that's a month since I wrote the original letter!

    Good luck Ya' All!

 i am sick and tired of waiting and i bet everone else is, my complaint has been with fos for 18 months and every time i ring i am told it has moved to a different team. I know they are busy but it drives me nuts, when i ask how long before i get an ajudicator i am told how long is a piece of string!!! its a joke!!!! RANT OVER LOL
lucieloo. Just looked back over your posts and it seems you have a complaint against Lloyds of London and they are not anything to do with Lloyds Bank and the BBA. Yours is against the insurer too and I have not seem any real feedback as yet on these complaints although I would think things will be moving soon. There is mention in the new proposals that the FSA made (which was what the BBA JR was apposing I think) about insurers responsiblity in sales and it reads quite complicated. Maybe just getting it all right!!

Thanks for your advice Dizzy Di, when I read that Centeral Trust wrote that they did not intend to respond futher, I mailed all the paperwork (copies of course) to the FOS, I will report back with the findings.

Your point of actually contacting the underwriter of the insurance policy is very interesting, I would have never though of that, however, being as Central Trust failed to provide me with any particulars regarding the policy (I did ask and was met with various excuses like, you should have had a copy, we will get one sent etc) I have no idea who the insurer is/was.

    I will keep you informed.

    Regards

If they ask you again "how long is a piece of string?"
Advise them "twice the length from one end to the middle!!!"

I originally borrowed £6000, so as you can see the PPI was a massive amount on top.
