If anyone has advice I would be really greatful.....please?

My friend lost her husband in an accident last year-he was in his early 50's, and I have been helping her with paperwork as her husband had done literally everything with regard to finance.
Over the years they had many loans, credit cards, store cards etc, but her late husband dealing with them all, unfortunately he kept no paperwork, it was always burnt on their fire.

At the time of his death they had 3 credit card balances covered with PPI, on which we are claiming (nothing happening until after the inquest), there were also loans & cards not covered with PPI-which have been sorted.

Would the best (or only way) to find out what loans/ cards were taken out and by him or her to apply for a free Experian report for both of them? Then would we have to write to the banks etc to see if he had PPI or not? Or if she did on any loans in her name?
Secondly my friend-sole beneficary (there was a will) would be trying to re-claim for a deceased person, can this be done?

It is hard to say he didn't understand/ or need PPI now that he is not here.

    Thank you for anyones help.

    Hiya

I was emailed today with the same sort of feedback, so it must be all moving forward, although mine may take some time, even though its been with lloyds since before xmas, others were before mine, so they should be dealing with them in an orderly manner.
How long have yours been with them?

Good luck and let us know what they say.;)

This is was sent in August last year and hold letter was recieved in November. So it has been on hold approximately six months.

Other one is with Ombudsman (adjudicator upheld complain)

I still have a small account with RBS and have 2 claims against them. The Banks are not allowed to mistreat you if you make a claim/complaint against them. Santander are quite speedy dealing with complaints.

    Good Luck

    Hi there

    That is so sad indeed.

I would write a personal letter to the bank, ask if an appointment could be made with the manager.

When my dad passed away 10 months ago, he had a separate account as well as other joint account with mum, and an appointment was made, they went through everything, think mum had to take a copy of the marriage certificate, also the death certificate, and the usual proof, utility bill, passport and/or driving licence for her own evidence, now weeks on they have sent mum a cheque.

So do write a letter, or give the bank a ring for an appointment and at the appointment I would go through everything, they will then possibly check the accounts.

Hope this is of some help, but otherwise maybe someone else will know the best action from here,

All the best to your friend.

  • Four years ago I took out a personal loan with Lloyds Bank. The salesman sold me Life Insurance that would cover the loan in the event of my death. Is this a form of Payment Protection Insurance?

    Hi there

If you have a reclaim for being mis sold then go for it, no harm done, your only making a reclaim in your own right, and I expect thousands of other customers will be doing so, so not to worry.
It makes no difference if the loan is paid off or settled.

If you've not made a start yet, follow the link below to step 3 of the reclaim questionnaire, complete and send to their head office or complaints dept, keep copies and allow 8 weeks for a decision, good luck.

    Hi there

Yes it does sound like it, do you now if it also covers unemployment, sickness as well?

If mis sold, follow the details below.

Or as directly on Lloyds website.
