Hi there
Complete to the best of your knowledge.
For example with mine, I used to think PPI was all part of a loan or credit card, because it was automatically added, and it was never discussed with me.
Have you also checked the mis selling checklist?
(Expand the list as well)

Good luck.
When these items were never discussed with you, what were you're reason's for the mis-sell, or am I being just daft and it was purely because it was never discussed, forgive me early morning fried brain if this is the case!
CheersThanks to all the competition posters.0 -

Hi hun
That's ok no worries lol, I'm like that the main of the time.:D
Well basically they added ppi, it was not discussed, because if they had discussed it with me they would have known I would not have been eligible to make a claim, I was a housemaker and receiving at the time just the children's benefits.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hey there
I'm fairly new to this whole PPI reclaiming thing as I've nearly always refused to have it, but I have entered in to a Debt Management Plan with a particular company. I was told over the phone when they sold me the plan that I had to take out their insurance to cover the loss of work etc and this would make sure my debtors would be paid and that I couldn't have a plan with them without it.
Having now looked at the small print it does state that it is optional, but I wasn't told this on the phone.....could I still claim? Although the company is not a bank or building society it is still a financial institution so are the rules the same?
Any advice would be helpful.

1st letter today from Nemo,
they quote
" i am able to confirm from checking our records that the loan and ppi was arranged by a broker with Nemo personal finance acting as the lender.
The FSA does not expect us to investigate complaints against 3rd parties but does expect us to identify such complaints and pass them on quickly to the relevant third party for investigation.
therefore because norton finance made the arrangements responsibilty for investigating the complaint rests with them and i have forwarded your complaint to them."
we had no idea Norton were involved,
maybe one of interest to Di.0 -
Hi there,
I am a newbie to the forum but was wondering if someone may be able to advise me please? My husband and I took out a personal loan for £10,000 with HSBC back in June 2006 over five years and have four more monthly payments left (Thank god!). We feel that we were misold PPI on the basis that it was not made clear that PPI was optional; my husband had been the victim of redundancy twice in a short period of time and feel that the salesperson used this fact to sell the PPI to us. We were led to believe that we were both covered by the insurance but later found out that only my husband is protected. In order to resolve this I contacted HSBC back in 2007 by telephone and was advised that we could not cancel the PPI but could reschedule our existing loan without protection at the same interest rate. In hindsight we wish that we had taken them up on this offer. In November 2007 we used a template letter from this website and sent it to HSBC. They replied within a couple of weeks advising that they would review our complaint. In January 2008 they wrote to us again stating that they were unable to support our complaint and that the plan "was suitable for a customer with our requirements". We did not take the matter any further. Then in June 2009 after the huge media coverage (thanks to Martin Lewis and his team) on PPI Insurance I wrote to HSBC again stating that we felt the response sent in January 2008 did not justify satisfactorily that our policy was sold fairly, reasonably and within our best interests and asked them to review our complaint again. They wrote back by saying that because we had not responded to the January 2008 letter within six months they were unable to take the complaint any further. We wrote to the Ombudsman who gave the same response. I admit that we should have followed this through and could kick ourselves for not doing just that. We do still strongly believe that the PPI was not explained to us in depth and that we were handed the paperwork and told to sign on the dotted line, I admit that this was very naive of us. We were made to feel that PPI was the standard sensible procedure when getting a loan. Due to the new guidelines that came into effect at the beginning of May do you think that we could re submit our complaint again or should we just admit defeat and except that we should have responded to the bank sooner? Sorry to have gone on and on, any help would be greatly appreciated.0 -

Hi there
Thanks for posting up.
I would contact Norton as well just to make sure.;)
It was the same with mine, the first loan was set up by a broker, so it was down to them, even though they dissolved, so it was then taken to the financial compensation scheme, and the other was directly taken out with Nemo which they had to deal with.:)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hello there
For this reason you can try making a reclaim, even though on DMP.
Folllow the link below to the reclaim questionnaire, complete, send, keep copies for yourself, and allow 8 weeks for a decision.

Hi there
Did the business though actually send you the final letter with details of the FOS, if not then let the FOS know, or if you were held back from going to the FOS, maybe hospital reasons/close family etc, they will consider.
The only other thing you can do is start again in hope they will take a review on this, to go along with the FSA rules, to look into past complaints and so. Give it a go, no harm done and good luck this time round.

Hi hun
Right, contact Nemo and ask them for details of Norton, tell them you have nothing that says that your loan was set up by the broker.
Or contact Norton with details of your account number via Nemo and they must check the records for you, one of them are responsible here, so do give Nemo a call, also ask them for the tel number of Norton.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
