I have 2 ongoing loans, Cahoot (now taken over by Santander) and HSBC. Since i took these loans out 2 or 3 years ago, i have entered into a debt management programme with the CCCS. Since the loans are now frozen and the repayments are managed by the CCCS, can i make a claim to cancel the PPI and therefore reduce the amount of debt? Or will the PPI be still an issue should i become unable to work etc? Debt management programmes are obviously not detailed in the PPI information packs!
Your help would be most appreciated, thank you.
Hi there, i am not too sure on this one, you should be covered still by the ppi as this is still on your loan. On the other hand you may not be, i would not cancel the ppi as your loan will not decrease, you will only get a small rebate on this.Give the banks a ring and see if the ppi can be claimed on, if it can and you have no reasons for mis sell then just leave it as it is.
Look here for reasons for mis sell
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#checklist
If any or all of these apply to you, then mis sell would be the way to go. If you win mis sell, the total ppi is taken off your debt and ppi paid by you to date will be taken off the loan balances.

  • Four weeks ago the FOS adjudicator found in my favour against Natwest, and the adjudicator contacted them regarding her decision. Natwest still said no so of the obudsman we go. However, I never recieved in my letter from FOS Natwests response to their decision, even though it said the letter was attached. I e-mailed the adjudicator a couple of times and they sent an electronic version to me. In the letter, it does not officially reject the decision, it merely states that they cannot agree the decision until the judicial review is announced. I thought the judicial review was about opening and reviewing old cases. Therefore, what has my case got to do with that. The adjudicator will send it to the ombudsman but will that alter anything?

  • Hi there...I am only just starting with my claims..( really wish I had been brave enough to take the banks on before...) Now M & S are dragging their heels, quoting this judicial review... it seems an easy way for them to put claims on a back burner...anything I can do?

Thanks again for all your support...

    Hi there

Lots are in the same position and there is nothing anyone can actually do to make it any quicker really.
Mine are still sitting with the bank and have been since before Xmas, but its been heard that there "may" be a decision made by Easter - hopefully.
I will wait until then and if still nothing its going to the Financial ombudsman service (FOS), and yet it can still take some time with them as well unfortunately due to very large volumes of complaints.

So lets hope of a good outcome soon, fingers crossed and all the very best on your reclaiming.;)
