    Hi

I have received a letter from Egg Bank today saying my claim for PPI has been upheld and they will be refunding all premiums charged to my account for the last 6 years however as I have an outstanding balance the payment will be applied directly to my Egg account.

My account is not in arrears and monthly payments are met therefore is anyone able to advise if they can do this.

    Thanks in advance

    Hiya

    Well done on your success.

I understand this happens and believe you could argue on the fact that you have no missed payments and have kept up to date, and not only that if you have for example priority debt elsewhere, maybe you prefer to put your refund towards that to help bring it down.

But still even so, as long as there are no debt elsewhere you could still request they refund it directly to you because of no arrears on the account, good luck.;)

  • Hi Di

Thank you for your advice, I have just called Egg who have informed me that it is their policy where a claim has been upheld and there is an outstanding balance that the payment is applied directly to the account, incidently their letter was only dated yesterday, I received it today and after checking online I can see they have already taken it off my outstanding balance.

    Once again many thanks,

Hi there, give fos a ring and get their take on this, i am sure they can only take your refund if you are in arrears, if this was a credit card then they may be able to do this,if it was a loan, then i am sure they cannot. fos will put you straight on this.
  • Thanks Di, It is for a credit card but I will check with FOS.

    Thanks again.
  • I have submitted complaint to FOS but they are declining action due to missed 6 month deadline owing to work/post schedule causind several wek delay in completing complaint form. H ave been informed that I should have recorded complaint even without complete info for form, any suggestions please? Failing this please ensure everyone knows to register complaint and fill in form and send info later!!!

    Hi there

Did you give them the reasons on why it was delayed?
If not you need to tell them this, and did you also receive the final letter from the business you complained to? the final letter should have included any details/leaflet of how to complain to the FOS, if not then let the FOS know this as well.

They normally consider taking late cases on within good reasons, if personal reasons as well.
Hope this can be sorted out, good luck.

  • I have 2 ongoing loans, Cahoot (now taken over by Santander) and HSBC. Since i took these loans out 2 or 3 years ago, i have entered into a debt management programme with the CCCS. Since the loans are now frozen and the repayments are managed by the CCCS, can i make a claim to cancel the PPI and therefore reduce the amount of debt? Or will the PPI be still an issue should i become unable to work etc? Debt management programmes are obviously not detailed in the PPI information packs!
Your help would be most appreciated, thank you.
